Extrusion method and apparatus
Improvements in the extrusion of thermohardenable materials are achieved by cooling the material in the initial zone of the extruder and reducing residence time by use of a prescribed length to diameter ratio and screw speed, particularly useful for intermittent application during robotically controlled mass production.
Candle filter support and plate assembly for polymer melts
A polymer melt candle filter having a support which comprises a hollow cylindrical body defined by a first end, a second end, and a cylinder wall having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion includes a screw thread on its outside surface and optionally a hex fitting on its inside surface for receiving a hex wrench. The second end portion includes a plurality of holes in the cylinder wall. The area of the openings of the holes on the outside surface of the cylinder wall may be larger than the area of the openings of the corresponding holes on the inside surface of the cylinder wall. The shape of the openings of the holes on the outside surface may be non-circular. A polymer melt filter plate assembly which comprises (a) a support plate comprising a plurality of threaded holes; (b) at least one filter which is screwed into at least one of the threaded holes via the screw thread on the outside surface of the first end portion of the filter support; (c) a tie rod with (i) a first end extending through a hole in a cone insert and a cap located at the second end of the filter support, and (ii) a second end extending through a threaded hole in the support plate; and (d) a cross bar which is attached to the second end of the tie rod for holding the support plate inside a shaft of an apparatus for filtering a polymer melt.
METHOD OF SUPPLYING A RAW MATERIAL QUANTITY TO A PRODUCTION MACHINE, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FOOD PRODUCT
A raw material quantity is supplied by a supply unit along a trajectory through a supply opening into the production machine. The trajectory of the raw material quantity is changeable. A supply unit for supplying a raw material quantity into a production machine comprises a supply channel portion having an exit opening and a feed hopper. The supply unit has at least one actuating unit, by which an actuating movement of the supply channel portion and/or of the feed hopper can be generated, so that the supply channel portion can be displaced relative to the feed hopper. A raw material mixture is supplied to the extrusion machine by the moved supply unit. In this way it is possible to supply the raw material mixture into the extrusion machine in a particularly uniform manner so that the raw material mixture can be processed by means of the extrusion machine.
System and method for preserving valve member travel in a multi-nozzle extruder
An extruder has a valve assembly configured to move pins to open and close the nozzles in a multi-nozzle extruder head independently. The pins of the valve assembly that are driven by actuators into and out of engagement with nozzles in the extruder head are positioned within sleeves that extend between the valve assembly and the extruder head. A gap is provided between the extruder head and the end of the sleeves proximate the extruder head to enable thermoplastic material leaking from the extruder that contacts the pins to remain in a melted or plastic state so the thermoplastic material does not interfere with the movement of the pins.

A method for producing a resin composition of the present invention is a method for producing a resin composition, the method including a step of obtaining a resin composition by heating and melt-kneading a mixture containing a particulate nucleating agent in which D.sub.50 is equal to or more than 0.1 μm and equal to or less than 300 μm and a thermoplastic resin using a twin screw extruder (100) including, inside a cylinder (10), a screw (50) having kneading discs (60), in which the step of obtaining a resin composition includes an extrusion step of extruding the mixture supplied into the twin screw extruder (100) in an ejection direction under kneading conditions in which X and Y satisfy 4.0≤X in a range of 6.0×10.sup.3≤Y≤7.0×10.sup.4 when a volume-based ejection amount is denoted by X (10.sup.−6.Math.kg.Math.h.sup.−1.Math.mm.sup.−3), and a strain rate is denoted by Y (min.sup.−1).

A method for producing a resin composition of the present invention is a method for producing a resin composition, the method including a step of obtaining a resin composition by heating and melt-kneading a mixture containing a particulate nucleating agent in which D.sub.50 is equal to or more than 0.1 μm and equal to or less than 300 μm and a thermoplastic resin using a twin screw extruder (100) including, inside a cylinder (10), a screw (50) having kneading discs (60), in which the step of obtaining a resin composition includes an extrusion step of extruding the mixture supplied into the twin screw extruder (100) in an ejection direction under kneading conditions in which X and Y satisfy 4.0≤X in a range of 6.0×10.sup.3≤Y≤7.0×10.sup.4 when a volume-based ejection amount is denoted by X (10.sup.−6.Math.kg.Math.h.sup.−1.Math.mm.sup.−3), and a strain rate is denoted by Y (min.sup.−1).
WATERPROOFING SHEET FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING USE
To provide a waterproof sheet for civil engineering, having sufficient strength and elongation even at a low temperature of about −10° C. and having excellent adhesiveness to a structure such as a tunnel. Disclosed is a waterproof sheet for civil engineering, which has a layer (A) including a composition containing an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) and a thermoplastic resin (a2) other than the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1), and a silica-containing layer containing silica, wherein the content of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) in the composition is 30 to 95% by mass, the content of the thermoplastic resin (a2) is 5 to 70% by mass, and the absolute value of the difference between the SP value of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) and the SP value of the thermoplastic resin (a2) is less than 0.70 (cal/cm.sup.3).sup.1/2.
WATERPROOFING SHEET FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING USE
To provide a waterproof sheet for civil engineering, having sufficient strength and elongation even at a low temperature of about −10° C. and having excellent adhesiveness to a structure such as a tunnel. Disclosed is a waterproof sheet for civil engineering, which has a layer (A) including a composition containing an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) and a thermoplastic resin (a2) other than the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1), and a silica-containing layer containing silica, wherein the content of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) in the composition is 30 to 95% by mass, the content of the thermoplastic resin (a2) is 5 to 70% by mass, and the absolute value of the difference between the SP value of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (a1) and the SP value of the thermoplastic resin (a2) is less than 0.70 (cal/cm.sup.3).sup.1/2.
