Method of forming a plate including providing a sheet of polyethylene terephthalate foam and thermoforming the polyethylene terephthalate foam into a plate. The plate comprising a bottom wall having an outer perimeter, an upper surface, and a lower support surface defining a horizontal reference plane. The plate further comprising a sidewall extending upwardly and outwardly from the outer perimeter at an angle “a” of between about 30° to about 35° relative to a vertical axis perpendicular to the horizontal reference plane. The plate further including a rim extending laterally outwardly from an upper edge of the sidewall and a turndown flange extending downwardly from an outer edge of the rim and terminating at a free end.

Methods and systems for vacuum forming to form a final plastic product defining a notch, including providing a plastic material; providing a mold for a preform plastic product from which to form the final plastic product having a sacrificial forming feature associated with forming an inline trimmable part defining a notch area from which to form the notch, the sacrificial forming feature positioned on the mold within the notch area to be trimmed via an inline trimming operation to form the notch and shaped to selectively reduce a material thickness at a selective remaining location of the preform plastic product; disposing the plastic material on the mold to form an assembly; applying vacuum forming to the assembly to form the preform plastic product; and reducing the material thickness at the selective remaining location of the preform plastic product during vacuum forming to affect a corresponding localized stiffness reduction.

Method of forming patient-specific implant
Methods and apparatus are provided for forming a patient-specific surgical implant based on mold system. The apparatus comprises a forming tool and a mold that may be generated using imaging and processing techniques and rapid prototyping methods. The mold apparatus includes at least two non-adjacent surface features for securing an implant forming material (such as a titanium mesh) during the forming process, enabling the implant forming material to be stretched beyond its elastic and thus permanently deformed with the correct patient-specific curvature. The implant may include one or more anatomic surface features for guidance and registration when transferring the implant to a patient.

The disclosure relates to a molding station for molding packaging trays, wherein the molding station comprises an upper tool and a lower tool which can be moved relative to one another, and the lower tool comprises at least one receptacle for a packaging blank. The molding station further comprises a frame that is connected to the lower tool in a movable manner and that is arranged between the upper tool and the lower tool. The lower tool comprises at least one clamping mechanism for fixating a packaging blank in the receptacle. The clamping mechanism comprises a clamping element which can be actuated by a motion of the frame relative to the lower tool and is configured to fixate a packaging blank in the receptacle.
