Method for producing multilayer member
A method for producing a multilayer member having a first member containing a crystallizable thermoplastic resin, an adhesion layer, and a second member includes performing a dry treatment on a surface of the first member containing a crystallizable thermoplastic resin so as to satisfy conditions A and B, applying an adhesive to the surface of the first member to form an adhesive layer on the surface, and adhering the second member to the adhesive layer. (A) The ultimate temperature of the first member is lower than the peak temperature of endothermic peak obtained by DSC of the crystallizable thermoplastic resin. (B) The high temperature holding time of the first member is less than 3.0 seconds, which is when the first member is continuously held at a temperature not lower than a temperature at the starting point of the endothermic peak obtained by DSC of the crystallizable thermoplastic resin.

Low temperature atmospheric pressure plasma for cleaning and activating metals
Plasma applications are disclosed that operate with argon or helium at atmospheric pressure, and at low temperatures, and with high concentrations of reactive species in the effluent stream. Laminar gas flow is developed prior to forming the plasma and at least one of the electrodes can be heated which enables operation at conditions where the argon or helium plasma would otherwise be unstable and either extinguish, or transition into an arc. The techniques can be employed to clean and activate a metal substrate, including removal of oxidation, thereby enhancing the bonding of at least one other material to the metal.

PLASMA ION PROCESSING OF SUBSTRATES
A method for plasma ion processing is described, including flowing a gas into porous material; and exposing the gas to a pulsed electric field whilst the gas is in the pores. The pulsed electric field ionises the gas to generate a plasma. The method may additionally include exposing the porous material to a gas so as to generate functionality. The method may additionally include exposing the functionalised porous material to a functional species so as to covalently attach said functional species to the surfaces of the pores.
SURFACE MODIFICATION OF POLYMER FOAMS USING PLASMA
An embodiment includes a system comprising: a monolithic shape memory polymer (SMP) foam having first and second states; wherein the SMP foam includes: (a) polyurethane, (b) an inner half portion having inner reticulated cells defined by inner struts, (c) an outer half portion, having outer reticulated cells defined by outer struts, surrounding the inner portion in a plane that provides a cross-section of the SMP foam, (d) hydroxyl groups chemically bound to outer surfaces of both the inner and outer struts. Other embodiments are discussed herein.
