20230226569 · 2023-07-20 ·

A system for coating a continuous sheet (1), having an application roller (10) for applying a coating on the sheet (1) when the sheet (1) is pressed against the application roller (10) by an application pressure element (11), a smoothing roller (20) for smoothing the coating applied on the sheet (1) by contact of the smoothing roller (20) with the coating when the sheet (1) is pressed against the smoothing roller (20) by a smoothing pressure element (21), the application (11) and smoothing pressure elements (21) being independently movable in order to press the sheet (1).

Impact forming of thermoplastic composites

Disclosed embodiments provide automated fiber placement techniques for fabrication of parts made from composite materials. A peening system with multiple pins provides compaction over irregular surfaces, providing superior performance as compared with traditional compaction rollers. The apparatus that carries out the techniques include a tape dispensing system, a heating system, a peening system, a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory contains instructions that when executed by the processor perform the steps of: dispensing a first ply of thermoplastic composite tape over a mandrel; dispensing a second ply of thermoplastic composite tape on the first ply; and peening the second ply onto the first ply, such that the second ply is bonded to the first ply.

The present invention relates to devices with which, for example, narrow surfaces of preferably plate-like workpieces can be provided with a coating material. The device includes a laser for outputting a laser beam to a laser beam emitter, wherein the laser beam is directed onto the coating material or onto the workpiece in such a manner that the laser beam forms a plane of reference with solder on the surface of the coating material or the workpiece.

Edge trim for pieces of furniture

An edge trim for pieces of furniture, including a meltable layer, is described. The molecular structure of the meltable layer contains both polar and non-polar parts. By way of a non-limiting example, an edge trim for pieces of furniture having an exposed edge of wooden or wood substitute material is described, comprising a molten layer and a structural layer, wherein the structural layer and the molten layer are connected in an adhesive bond, wherein the molten layer is made of a material that is chemically modified such that polar and non-polar components are found in a single molecular structure, wherein the molten layer contains energy absorbing additives, wherein the energy absorbing additives of the molten layer are selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal phosphates, metal salts of organic anions and combinations thereof.

An assembly includes a substrate, a trim member and a heat-activated adhesive member. The substrate defines at least two surfaces including a finished surface and an unfinished surface. The trim member defines at least two surfaces including an outwardly-facing finished surface and an inwardly-facing attachment surface. The inwardly-facing attachment surface of the trim member is arranged over and trims the unfinished surface of the substrate. The finished surface of the substrate and the outwardly-facing surface of the trim member form a cooperating finished surface of the assembly. The heat-activated adhesive member is disposed over both of the unfinished surface and the inwardly-facing attachment surface of the trim member to indirectly attach the unfinished surface of the substrate to the inwardly-facing attachment surface of the trim member. A method is also disclosed.

METHOD AND INSTALLATION FOR JOINING A COVER LAYER TO AN OBJECT
20210162675 · 2021-06-03 ·

A cover layer is joined to an object by a pressing force and mechanical vibration. The cover layer has a cover layer contact surface, and the object has an object contact surface, and the cover layer contact surface and the object contact surface face each other. At least one of the cover layer and the object include a joining material. The cover layer contact surface is brought into contact with the object contact surface, and a sonotrode presses the cover layer against the object and applies mechanical vibration to an outer surface of the cover layer for a time sufficient for activating the joining material. Cover layer and object are conveyed relative to the sonotrode in a continuous manner in a conveying direction throughout the steps of arranging, of bringing into contact, of pressing and of applying vibration.

Method and device for narrow surface coating

The invention relates to a method for edge coating on work pieces, comprising the following steps: inducing a relative movement between a work piece (W) and an application unit (10), which application unit (10) is provided for applying a mass; setting an application region for applying the mass, in particular in accordance with the width of the edge of a work piece to be provided with the mass; applying the mass to an edge of the work piece (W) to form a three-dimensional body. Said work pieces can be, in particular elements or parts from the furniture or components industry.

Method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object, as well as cover layer suitable for the method

A method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object in a continuous process. Joining is effected with the aid of a joining material having thermoplastic properties, wherein the joining material is arranged between the cover layer and the object and is liquefied using ultrasonic vibration energy. Before application of the ultrasonic vibration energy, the joining material is preheated in a contactless manner with the aid of electromagnetic induction in the region of the glass transition temperature of the joining material or above this glass transition temperature. The object is in particular a chip board and the cover layer an edge strip to be joined to an edge of the chip board.
