Method For Applying A Film Onto A Body
The present invention relates to a method of applying a film to a body. In this respect, a film is first applied to and positioned at a transfer mold and the body to be film coated is introduced into the transfer mold to which the film to be attached is applied or the transfer mold to which the film to be attached is applied is introduced into the body to be film coated so that the film is located between the body and the transfer mold. In the further course, a vacuum is applied in a region between the body and the film and/or an excess pressure is applied in a region between the transfer mold and the film so that the film moves from the transfer mold onto the body. A particularly simple method that is fast to be carried out is thereby provided for applying a film to a surface.
Systems and methods for in situ manufacturing of minimally tooled stringers
Provided are systems and apparatuses for manufacturing aircraft support structures. An example robotic end effector comprises a rotatable reel with a flat strip of material wound around the reel. The end effector further includes a forming shoe including a forming surface contacting the strip of material. A first end of the forming surface corresponds to a start shape and a second end of the forming surface corresponds to an end shape. As the strip of material passes from the first end of the forming surface to the second end of the forming surface, the strip of material transitions from the first shape to the end shape and is deposited as a formed stringer ply onto an application surface. The forming shoe may further include a vacuum system to suction air through a plurality of ports along the forming surface to urge the strip of material against the forming surface.
COMPOSITE FLEXIBLE COUPLING
A flexible coupling for transmitting torque between parts of a transmission shaft system comprises a tubular section of continuous-fibre-reinforced composite material which has been modified to form a living hinge section with reduced bending stiffness to allow flexion of the tubular section. The tubular section may be modified through the provision of a pattern of formations within the living hinge section. The formations may be in the form of apertures and/or recesses in the continuous-fibre-reinforced composite material to create a plurality of living hinges in the material between, in particular slots and/or grooves.
SOFT SHELL BOOTS AND WATERPROOF/BREATHABLE MOISTURE TRANSFER COMPOSITES AND LINER FOR IN-LINE SKATES, ICE-SKATES, HOCKEY SKATES, SNOWBOARD BOOTS, ALPINE BOOTS, HIKING BOOTS AND THE LIKE
The soft boot and liner include a moisture transfer system that includes an inner fabric layer carefully selected from technically advanced fabrics. A series of layers are provided outside the inner liner including foam material layers, spacer fabrics and breathable membranes, in various orders. Encapsulation technology and waterproofing are used as well. The outer fabric layer is also capable of working with the other layers to promote the transfer of moisture. Frothed foams and flocking with fibers are further characteristics of the present invention. The moisture transfer system is incorporated into a soft boot or skate or as a removable liner for a shell boot. Numerous other modifications and applications are disclosed.
Pressure vessel and manufacturing method thereof
A pressure vessel includes a vessel body including a cylindrical-shaped straight body portion with a spiral-shaped projection portion formed at an outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion, and a covering portion that comprises a fiber bundle wrapped onto the outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion in a spiral pattern running parallel to the projection portion so as to cover the outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS WITH THIN INTERIOR WALLS
An electrical connector with thin interior walls is made by extruding a polymer or polymer composite into a sheet of approximately 0.25 mm to 0.5 mm thickness. The sheet is then calendered to a thickness of about 0.05 mm to 0.3 mm. The calendered sheet is cut into notched sections. The notched sections are assembled and placed into an injection molded housing of a connector. The sections are secured in place by using an adhesive, force fit, snap fit, or welding process to form the thin interior walls of the connector.
TUBE BODY INTERMEDIATE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING TUBE BODY
Provided is a tube body intermediate including: a carbon fiber disposed with respect to an outer circumferential surface of a mandrel so as to extend in an axial direction of the mandrel; and a fixing member having a tubular shape and disposed with respect to the outer circumferential surface of the mandrel so as to cover the carbon fiber. Also provided is a tube body production method including: disposing a fiber body with respect to an outer circumferential surface of a mandrel so that the fiber body extends in an axial direction of the mandrel; disposing a fixing member with a tubular shape with respect to the outer circumferential surface of the mandrel so that the fixing member covers the fiber body; and impregnating the fiber body with a resin on the outer circumferential surface of the mandrel and then heating the resin to mold the resin.
Device and method for preparation of a composite for on-site pipeline reinforcement
A device for preparation of composite for on-site pipeline reinforcement includes: a temperature control stirring unit, an infiltration unit, and a vacuum unit communicated in sequence, the infiltration unit includes a spindle, reinforced fiber cloth, a flow-guiding net, and a vacuum bag film sleeved outside them, the spindle is stopped by two baffles, an adhesive feeding joint and an adhesive discharging joint are disposed at two ends of the spindle, respectively, the adhesive feeding joint and the adhesive discharging joint each includes an inner joint and an outer joint, sealing discs disposed at a junction between the inner joint and the outer joint, an outer wall of the inner joint and an outer side of the baffle are covered by a flow-leading net, and the flow-guiding net covered on the outer side of the baffle extends from an edge of the baffle into the adhesive storing compartment of the baffle.
Laser welding of cable jacket
An optical cable and method for forming an optical cable is provided. The cable includes a cable jacket including an inner surface defining a channel and an outer surface and also includes a plurality of optical fibers located within the channel. The cable includes a seam within the cable jacket that couples together opposing longitudinal edges of a wrapped thermoplastic sheet which forms the cable jacket and maintains the cable jacket in the wrapped configuration around the plurality of optical fibers. The method includes forming an outer cable jacket by wrapping a sheet of thermoplastic material around a plurality of optical core elements. The method includes melting together portions of thermoplastic material of opposing longitudinal edges of the wrapped sheet such that a seam is formed holding the sheet of thermoplastic material in the wrapped configuration around the core elements.
