The first ridge defines a plurality of interspaced lands and notches, and the second ridges are configured to sever the at least one elastic strand when in close proximity to the first bonding module.
High-speed polymer-to-metal direct joining system and method
A method of directly joining a polymer to a metal along a joint interface through the formation of C—O-M chemical bonds, where M represents an element in the metal to be joined. The method includes heating the metal to a predetermined temperature above a glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than a flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than a metal melting temperature of the metal; physically contacting at least one of the metal and the polymer; and applying compression pressure to the joint interface of the metal and the polymer when the metal is above the glass transition temperature of the polymer and less than the flash ignition temperature of the polymer and less than the metal melting temperature of the metal to generate intimate atomic contact between the metal and the polymer to create C—O-M chemical bonds between the metal and the polymer.
Metal-resin composite and method for producing same
There is provided a method for producing a metal-resin composite including a metal member and a resin member which are joined together, the resin member containing at least a thermoplastic resin. The method includes a step of joining together the resin member and the metal member by melting the resin member with the frictional heat generated in the surface of the metal member on its side opposite to the resin member in a state where the metal member and the resin member are superposed. The melting point of the thermoplastic resin is 260° C. or more.
Method for connecting components which have a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic plastic
A method for connecting components having a fibre-reinforced thermoplastic plastic includes provision of a first component with a first joining surface, provision of a second component with a second joining surface, flush placement of the first joining surface against the second joining surface in order to form a connection joint, placement of a friction stir welding tool against the connection joint, or a surface directly adjacent thereto, of at least one of the components, softening of the first component and the second component, in each case in a region adjacent to the connection joint, by rotation of the tool, such that the thermoplastic plastic of the two components locally fuses, and movement of the tool along the connection joint for the purposes of connecting the two components by formation of a fusion seam, wherein portions of reinforcement fibres are stirred in to increase the strength of the fusion seam.
The melting point of the thermoplastic resin is 260° C. or more.
METAL-RESIN COMPOSITE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
There is provided a method for producing a metal-resin composite which includes a resin member and a metal member having a roughened surface in at least a portion of the surface thereof, the resin member being joined so as to be in contact with at least a portion of the roughened surface. The method includes a step of joining the resin member and the metal member by melting the resin member with the frictional heat generated in the surface of the metal member on its side opposite to the resin member in a state where the metal member and the resin member are superposed. The method includes making adjustment so that when the roughened surface is measured at arbitrary five points by using a confocal microscope according to ISO 25178, the developed area ratio (Sdr) is 5 or more in terms of number-average value.
Method for producing a common connecting opening in two components, at least one of which is made from a plastically deformable material
A method is provided for producing a common connecting opening in two components, at least one of which is made from a plastically deformable material. In the method, at least the edge region of a first prefabricated opening of the first component is softened in order subsequently to introduce a mandrel which displaces the material softened by the heating so that a common connecting opening having a predetermined diameter is obtained.
FRICTION STIR SPOT WELDING APPARATUS AND FRICTION STIR SPOT WELDING METHOD
A friction stir spot welding apparatus including a controller that (A) operates a rotary driver and a tool driver such that a pin and a shoulder are brought into contact with a welded workpiece; (B) operates, after the (A), the rotary driver and the tool driver such that the pin separates from the welded workpiece; and (C) operates, after the (B), the rotary driver and the tool driver such that the pin advances toward the welded workpiece. The controller controls the tool driver such that pressing force applied to the welded workpiece from the pin and the shoulder in the (C) is smaller than that in the (B) and/or controls the rotary driver such that rotational frequencies of the pin and the shoulder in the (C) are lower than those in the (B).
Systems and methods for joining blade components of rotor blades
Systems and methods for joining blade components of a rotor blade are provided. A method includes positioning a first blade component and a second blade component such that a joint location of the first blade component and a joint location of the second blade component are proximate each other. The method further includes applying a force to an outer surface of the second blade component and an opposing force to an inner surface of the second blade component. The force and opposing force maintain an aerodynamic contour of the second blade component. The method further includes connecting the joint location of the first blade component and the joint location of the second blade component together.
Hand-guided device for setting a setting element and method for using said device
The invention relates to a hand-guided device (10) for setting a setting element (12) in a component. The device comprises a handle (14) for holding the device, a carriage (34), which can be moved in relation to the handle and which bears a rotatably supported drive shaft (46), at one end of which a holder for the setting element is formed, a force accumulator (44), which is arranged between the handle and the carriage and which serves to store a defined advancing force, with which the force limiter can be loaded by means of a relative motion between the handle and the carriage, and a force limiter (64) for limiting the advancing force stored in the force accumulator. The force accumulator is designed to apply the stored advancing force to the setting element by means of the carriage.
