Adhesive attachment discs
The present invention is directed to synthetic attachment discs made from adhesive nanofibers and/or microfibers that are capable of attaching long fibers to a wide variety of surfaces, and related methods for forming and using them. The synthetic attachment discs of the present invention use very little material relative to prior art systems, while producing a very strong attachment force. Experimental and theoretical evidence are provided to confirm the advantages of thousands of micron-size ‘staple-pins’ and their low peeling angles to enhance the adhesive forces required to peel the synthetic attachment discs. The present invention provides a unique strategy for designing new adhesives that use very little material for various biomedical and material science applications.
Laminate film manufacturing method
A laminate film manufacturing method is capable of preventing thickness unevenness of a cured layer and preventing wrinkling of the entire laminate film. A laminate film is manufactured by applying a coating solution including an active radiation curable resin to a surface of a first film that is continuously transported in an application part to form a coated film in a lamination part, laminating a second film that is continuously transported on the coated film to sandwich the coated film between the first film and the second film, and in a state in which the coated film is sandwiched between the first film and the second film, winding the first film around a backup roller and irradiating the coated film with infrared rays from an ultraviolet irradiation device while continuously transporting the first film to cure the coated film in a curing part so as to form a cured layer.
Method for manufacturing multilayer member
A method for manufacturing a multilayer member that provides excellent adhesiveness without using a primer. An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for manufacturing a multilayer member including a first member containing a crystalline thermoplastic resin, an adhesion layer, and a second member in this order, the method including a surface treatment step of performing dry treatment on a surface of the first member containing a crystalline thermoplastic resin, satisfying the following condition A, an adhesive application step of forming an adhesive layer in a surface subjected to the dry treatment of the first member by applying an adhesive to the surface subjected to the dry treatment of the first member without interposing a primer composition, and an adhering step of making the second member adhere onto the adhesive layer.
Liners and linings for tanks and other liquid containment vessels
Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of liners, linings, and liquid containment vessels including the same. Also disclosed are exemplary method of providing liners and linings for liquid containment vessels, such as process tanks, immersion tanks, containment pits, gravity feed conduits for transferring or conveying liquid, etc. In an exemplary embodiment, a liner or lining is anchored to at least one structural component by at least one extrusion weld and at least one mechanical fastener. The mechanical fastener is coupled to the structural component. The extrusion weld is coupled to the mechanical fastener. The liner or lining may be anchored to a wide range of structural components, such as a frame, a framework, a frame member, a tank, a wall, a support member, a reinforcing member, an outer shell, a substrate (e.g., concrete, etc.) or sidewalls defining a pit or a gravity feed conduit, combinations thereof, other structures or components, etc.
HAND EXTRUDER, PARTICULARLY FOR WELDING COMPONENTS MADE OF PLASTICS
A hand extruder, particularly for welding parts made of plastics, has a main body which supports an extrusion means for the extrusion of plastic material, an actuation means actuating the extrusion means, a heating means heating the plastic material, a preheating means preheating parts to be welded, and a control means controlling the hand extruder; a grip detachably connected to the main body by an interconnection means preset to pass from a coupling configuration, in which the grip is joined to the main body, to an uncoupling configuration, in which the grip is separated from the main body; the interconnection means has an electrical mating means of the plug-socket type electrically and detachably connecting at least part of the means supported by the main body to an electrical control means arranged on the grip.
Method for repairing a civil engineering structure
A repair method for a civil engineering work. The method includes the depositing, directly onto a portion of the work to be repaired, of a reinforcing structure formed from one or more successive layers of at least one reinforcing material which are each extruded in contact with the surface onto which the material is to be deposited, using a robot system, with the material being extruded in strips.
HIGH FREQUENCY ADHESIVE BONDING
A system and method for bonding a first layer of material to a second layer of material includes a first electrically conductive plate, a second electrically conductive plate spaced apart from the first electrically conductive plate. The second electrically conductive plate is electrically grounded. A high frequency generator in electrical communication with the first electrically conductive plate supplies high frequency electrical signals to the first electrically conductive plate. An adhesive applied to one of the first and second layers of material has an electromagnetic susceptor material that when subjected to the electric field heats the adhesive to an adhesive curing temperature to bond the first layer of material to the second layer of material. A clamping mechanism applies pressure to one of the first and second layers of material to maintain contact between the first and second layers until an adhesive cure time has lapsed.
Methods of manufacturing mirrors
Methods of forming a mirror by bonding a faceplate to a core structure using adhesive formulations that include: (1) a binder comprising 40 to 60 weight % monoaluminum phosphate and 40 to 60 weight % water, the binder constituting 25 to 35 weight % of the adhesive formulation and, (2) a composition that includes a first set of particles having a coefficient of thermal expansion equal to or less than 0.05 ppm/° C. and diameters between 1 to 60 micrometers and a second set of particles having a coefficient of thermal expansion equal to or less than 0.05 ppm/° C. and diameters between 0.05 to 1 micrometers, the first set of particles constituting 80 to 85 weight % of the composition, the second set of particles constituting 15 to 20 weight % of the composition; the composition constituting 65 to 75 weigh % of the adhesive formulation.
