COLD WEATHER VENTED GARMENT
20190289939 · 2019-09-26 ·

The present invention relates to breathable, vented, and insulating cold weather garments. More particularly, the present invention relates to garments with chambers to retain an insulating fill material. Perforations along the seams between the insulating chambers may achieve optimal evaporative moisture transfer from the inside (proximal to the body of a wearer) of the garment to the outside environment.

WELDED ORHOPEDIC ANKLE SUPPORT FOR SELECTIVELY STABILIZING ANKLE MOVEMENT AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
20190262164 · 2019-08-29 ·

An orthopedic ankle support is disclosed which provides an ultra-thin profile and selective restriction of movement of the user's ankle. In an embodiment, sections of a thin, tense material are welded onto a non-rigid body. The sections may include a tense anchor segment which may be proximate the heel opening and/or sole, and one or more tension segments that may extend from the anchor segment to upper portions of the support. In an embodiment, certain of the tension segments may be connected to an attachment portion affixed on the body, such as a thick lace-up area for tightening the support. Welding of the tension segments onto the body using thermal fusion obviates the need for uncomfortable stitching and material lumps. In addition, welding the tension segments into predetermined orientations enables the designer to have control over the properties of the support such that, for example, the tension segments may be oriented so as to restrict undesirable rotatory motion of the ankle without restricting natural forward and rearward motions of the foot.

ULTRASONIC WELDING OF FABRICS FOR SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT

A respiratory apparatus may employ ultrasonic welds. The ultrasonic welding may be used to join a variety of headgear, mask and accessory components. This process may enhance comfort, fit and/or performance of the joined components and/or overall mask assembly. A component may be a single layer component such as a textile or fabric, or a composite or multiple layer component such as fabric and foam composites, or outer fabric layers and inner spacer fabrics. Further, a component may be a strap, some other headgear component, a mask component, an accessory component or the like.

Non-continuously laminated structures of thermoplastic films with differing material compositions and functional material properties

A non-continuously laminated structure of thermoplastic films comprises thermoplastic films with differing material compositions and differing functional benefits. In particular, one or more embodiments comprise thermoplastic films that are co-extruded separately and then combined together by a post-extrusion bonding process. The differing composition of the various films of the non-continuously laminated structure of thermoplastic films and the post-extrusion bonding process, provide the structures with the functional benefits of the individual films.

Vented garment

The technology described herein relates to breathable, vented, and insulating garments. More particularly, the technology described herein relates to articles with a plurality of interconnected chambers that are configured to retain a thermally insulating fill material such as down or synthetic fibers. The plurality of interconnected chambers are formed between at least two layers of material and between a plurality of seams. The plurality of seams are configured to join the at least two layers of material together. In one aspect, each seam of the plurality of seams is angularly oriented with respect to an adjacent or neighboring seam of the plurality of seams. One or more openings or perforations may be formed on one or more seams of the plurality of seams forming the plurality of interconnected chambers. The one or more openings may achieve evaporation of moisture and/or air transfer from an interior environment of the garment to an exterior environment.

Multi-layered bags with discrete non-continuous lamination

Multi-layer bags may be formed to include first and second sidewalls joined along a first side edge, an opposite second side edge, and a closed bottom edge. The first and second layers may be non-continuously laminated together in discrete sections to include bonded regions in which the layers are bonded and unbonded regions in which the layers are not bonded. Such a bag may be described as a bag-in-a-bag type configuration in which the inner bag is non-continuously bonded to the outer bag. The inventors have surprisingly found that such configurations of non-continuous bonding provides increased and unexpected strength properties to the multi-layer films and bags.

Foldable Cushion Bag

A foldable cushion bag includes a main body and a handling unit. The main body includes a bottom wall and a sleeve wall jointed to the bottom wall. The bottom wall and the sleeve wall form a first heat sealed joint therebetween and cooperatively define a space for receiving a bottle. Each of the bottom and sleeve walls includes a multilayered structure having an outermost protecting layer, a first adhesive layer, a heat sealing layer, a second adhesive layer and an innermost cushion layer in that order. The handling unit is connected to the sleeve wall and opposite to the bottom wall. The handling unit is formed with a gripping hole.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL MESH STRUCTURES AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLY

A seat cushion formed from a body comprising a plurality of extruded polymer filaments randomly connected to form a first three-dimensional mesh structure formed by the extruded polymer filaments. The body is formed by heating an area of the body with an ultrasonic tool that modifies a portion of the extruded polymer filaments to form a second three-dimensional structure comprising a second shape that is different than the first shape. A skin of extruded polymer film is welded to the body of extruded polymer filaments. A second body of a plurality of extruded polymer filaments randomly connected to form a second three-dimensional mesh structure formed by the extruded polymer filaments is welded to the first body. A method is disclosed for modifying the bodies with an ultrasonic tool to shape or weld the bodies.
