In certain examples, a machine that forms a web into bags or pouches includes a sealing section through which the web is conveyed in a machine direction. The sealing section is configured to form a lap seal in the web and has an input end configured to receive the web which has a first web section and a second web section. An ultrasonic sealer with a horn and an anvil defines a nip therebetween through which the first web section passes. The ultrasonic sealer is configured to form the lap seal in the first web section. The anvil is positioned between the first web section and the second web section. An output end is configured to dispense the web with the lap seal formed therein.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INDUCTION WELDING

An induction welding system includes a first gantry, a second gantry, and a support structure. The first gantry includes a first frame and a first plurality of trunks. The first plurality of trunks defines a first curved inner support surface of the first gantry. The first curved inner support surface has a first curvature geometry. The second gantry includes a second frame and a second plurality of trunks. The second plurality of trunks defines a second curved inner support surface of the second gantry. The second curved inner support surface has a second curvature geometry which is different than the first curvature geometry. The support structure includes at least one tooling member defining a curved outer support surface of the support structure. The support structure is longitudinally moveable relative to the first gantry and the second gantry.

Dual ultrasonic welder

A dual ultrasonic welder unit may be coupled to and carried by a mounting bracket including a base member extending in a an end of a robot arm and may include a first welder including a welding horn adjustable in a Z-axis direction by a first motor mounted within a mounting bar assembly of the first welder. The mounting bar assembly may be coupled to the base member and include a support for adjusting the location of the first welder in an X-axis direction by a second motor mounted to an extension member coupled to the base member and including a threaded member coupled to a follower member coupled to the mounting bar assembly. The dual ultrasonic welder may include a second ultrasonic welder fixedly coupled to the base member. Methods of controlling and operating the dual ultrasonic welding unit include steps of operating the robot and the first and second motors to position the first welder relative to the second welder unit for simultaneously performing ultrasonic welds on at multiple locations on a workpiece.

The base plate holds an instrument panel which is an object to be welded. The position adjusting jigs are connected to the vibrating body so as to be adjustable in position. The plurality of position adjusting jigs are disposed independently of each other.

In particular, the horizontal packaging machine (M) includes compensation means of the mutual distance (MMV, PE, P1, P2, CT, FL) between the two shafts (AS, AI) with micrometric adjustment of the distance to compensate for thermal expansion and use of packaging film (F) of different thickness.

An apparatus for applying the film to the substrate includes a bed having a substrate placement surface and a selectively positionable tack bar, a roller support moveable over the span of the bed, and including the location of the positioning bar, and a roller rotatably supported to the positioning bar and moveable over the bed in response to movement of the roller support with respect to the bed. In another aspect, the tack bar is of the same thickness, or slightly less thick, as the substrate onto which the film is to be applied, such that a portion of the film to be applied can be secured thereto and not on the substrate before the backing is removed from additional portions of the film, such that the tack bar supports an end of the film in substantially the plane of, or slightly below the plane of, the substrate.
