Locking hole plug for sealing holes in composite structures
A hole plug that can be used during rework or repair of a composite fiber assembly includes various features that allow placement of a vacuum force to the surface being reworked or repaired. In some implementations, the hole plug can include a plurality of nubs positioned around a shank. The nubs can secure the hole plug to the composite fiber assembly until a cure of an adhesive. The hole plug can further include a plurality of longitudinally oriented grooves extending along the shank and positioned between the plurality of nubs, and can include a notch positioned circumferentially around the shank. The grooves and notch can be used as adhesive carriers that assist with dispersal of a sufficient volume of the adhesive onto other portions of the shank and the composite fiber assembly during insertion of the hole plug into a hole in the composite fiber assembly.
Method for repairing tire tread
Various method for repairing a tire tread are provided. In one embodiment, a method for repairing a tire tread comprises: providing a tire having a tire tread portion wherein the tire tread portion includes a tread element that is at least one of a tread block and a tread rib, and wherein the tread element includes a void resulting from wear or damage of the tire tread portion; removing a material from at least a portion of the tread element adjacent to the void to create a removed material portion, wherein the removed material portion includes a specific shape corresponding to a replacement element; applying an adhesive to at least one surface of the removed material portion; applying the replacement element to the removed material portion; and curing the adhesive.

Machining method, application tool, and machining arrangement for modifying or repairing a surface spot of a workpiece surface of a fiber composite workpiece
To reduce the processing time in the case of repairing of excessively countersunk bolt openings or surface damage in fiber composite workpieces, it is proposed to countersink the corresponding surface spot to produce a contact surface and a depression for a fiber composite insert body. The fiber composite insert body is placed onto the contact surface and is fixed on the fiber composite workpiece in the depression. In the case of an excessively countersunk bolt opening, a new bolt opening is drilled into the fiber composite insert body, which new bolt opening is subsequently countersunk to the correct countersunk bore depth. In the case of the method, a three-legged application tool can be used which positions and orients the fiber composite insert body correctly and presses it onto the fiber composite workpiece during the curing of the adhesive.

RESISTANCE REPAIR OF THERMOPLASTIC COMPONENTS
A method of repairing a defect of a thermoplastic component is provided. The thermoplastic component has a thermoplastic material at the defect having a first melting temperature, and the defect has a contact surface (TC contact surface). The method includes a) providing a patch comprising a second thermoplastic material having a second melting temperature that is below the first melting temperature. The patch includes a contact surface (TP contact surface); b) disposing a portion of a heating element between the TC contact surface and the TP contact surface. The heating element is operable to heat up as a result of electrical resistance; c) forcing the TP surface toward the TC surface; and d) inputting energy into the heating element to cause the heating element to heat and maintain the TP surface at or above the second melting temperature to produce bonding between the thermoplastic component and the patch.
