A ceramic matrix composite member including a ceramic matrix composite reinforced by ceramic fiber, includes a body portion and a joint portion joined integrally to the body portion, the joint portion occupying a part of a surface of the ceramic matrix composite member, wherein the body portion includes at least one hole extending toward an inside of the body portion from a boundary surface between the body portion and the joint portion, and the at least one hole is filled with a matrix of the ceramic matrix composite, wherein the body portion includes a first region where a density of the ceramic fiber is relatively high and a second region where the density of the ceramic fiber is lower than that in the first region, and wherein the at least one hole exists so as to cut off a part of bundles of the ceramic fiber in the second region.

A method for repairing a target member including a ceramic matrix composite reinforced by ceramic fiber includes: a removal step of removing at least a part of a surface of the target member; an arrangement step of arranging a green body for repair which includes the ceramic fiber on a portion where the surface is removed in the removal step; an impregnation step of impregnating at least the portion of the target member where the green body for repair is disposed with slurry; and a sintering step of sintering the target member on which the green body for repair is disposed, after the impregnation step.
Applicator repair for additive manufacturing system
An applicator repair system for an additive manufacturing (AM) system, and an AM system including the same are disclosed. The applicator repair system includes a repair device including a repair element configured to repair a damaged applicator element on an applicator of an AM system. The damaged applicator element is configured to distribute a layer of raw material on a build platform of the AM system. The repair device is positioned within a processing chamber of the AM system. A damaged applicator controller may be provided that is configured to cause repair of the damaged active applicator in response to the damaged applicator being identified as damaged.

The applicator repair system includes a repair device including a repair element configured to repair a damaged applicator element on an applicator of an AM system. A method for repairing a composite laminate component includes removing a first portion of the composite laminate component. The composite laminate component extends between and to a first component side and a second component side. The composite laminate component includes a first plurality of layers having a first sequential arrangement from the first component side to the second component side, and the first portion includes the first plurality of layers. The method further includes preparing a second portion for the composite laminate component. The second portion extends between and to a first portion side and a second portion side. The second portion includes a second plurality of layers having a second sequential arrangement from the first portion side to the second portion side. The second sequential arrangement is different than the first sequential arrangement. The method further includes positioning the second portion on the composite laminate component and curing the second portion.
