Method of producing an optical device and a corresponding system

A method of producing an optical device from a volume of a curable composition, includes the following steps: —polymerizing a first portion of the volume by irradiating an external surface of the volume with a light irradiation, thereby increasing a transmittance of the first portion for the light irradiation; —polymerizing a second portion of the volume by irradiating the second portion with the light irradiation through the external surface and the polymerized first portion, wherein the light irradiation has a light intensity varying over the external surface between a first light intensity and a second light intensity distinct from the second light intensity. A corresponding system is also described.

A method and printing system for printing a three-dimensional structure, in particular an optical component, by depositing droplets of printing ink side by side and one above the other in several consecutive depositing steps by means of a print head. In each depositing step a plurality of droplets is ejected simultaneously by a plurality of ejection nozzles of the print head. The print head is moved relative to the deposited droplets in a moving step performed between at least two consecutive depositing steps in such a manner that the droplets deposited in the same position in the at least two consecutive depositing steps are ejected at least partly from two different ejection nozzles.

SILICONE OPTICS

Silicone-containing light fixture optics. A method for manufacturing an optical component may include mixing two precursors of silicone, opening a first gate of an optic forming device, moving the silicone mixture from the extrusion machine into the optic forming device, cooling the silicone mixture as it enters the optic forming device, filling a mold within the optic forming device with the silicone mixture, closing the first gate, and heating the silicone mixture in the mold to at least partially cure the silicone. Alternatively, a method for manufacturing an optical component may include depositing a layer of heat cured silicone optical material to an optical structure, arranging one or more at least partially cured silicone optics on the layer of heat cured silicone optical material, and heating the heat cured silicone optical material to permanently adhere the one or more at least partially cured silicone optics to the optical structure.

EYEWEAR LENS CREATION USING ADDITIVE TECHNIQUES WITH DIFFUSE LIGHT

Systems and methods for lens creations are disclosed. The method includes initiating light transmission from a light source through a diffuser into a container holding resin and a substrate. The light transmission is performed according to an irradiation pattern wherein each point in the resin is illuminated by at least 10% of the diffuser. This causes a lens to be formed. To achieve this illumination, at least 15% of the diffuser receives light from the light source. Further, a diameter of the diffuser is greater than or equal to a diameter of the substrate. The system performing the methods includes a polymerization apparatus and may include a resin conditioning and reservoir apparatus, a metrology unit, a resin drainage apparatus and an optional postcuring apparatus.

There is provided a novel, improved optical body, the micro concave-convex structure of which can be protected without the use of a protective film, a film adhesive body, and a method for manufacturing an optical body, the optical body including: an optical film, on one surface of which is formed a first micro concave-convex structure in which an average cycle of concavities and convexities is less than or equal to a visible light wavelength; and a master film that covers the first micro concave-convex structure. The master film is provided with a second micro concave-convex structure formed on a surface that faces the first micro concave-convex structure, the second micro concave-convex structure is made of a cured curing resin, and has a reverse shape of the first micro concave-convex structure, and the optical film and the master film are separable from each other.

Methods of molding intraocular lenses

Intraocular implants and methods of making intraocular implants are disclosed. The intraocular implant can include a mask adapted to increase depth of focus. The method of manufacturing the implant can include filling an annular mask-forming trough with an opaque mask material and adding an optically transmissive optic material over the opaque mask material.

Method of producing a lens with an embedded foil

A lens with an embedded foil is produced by positioning a foil on a holder, providing adhesive attachment dots on the foil on surface portions opposite to the holder, positioning a front mould ensuring the contact of the dots with a front mould surface, retracting the holder and positioning a back mould opposite to the front mould. The mould is then connected with a sealing bridge to build an assembly forming a mould cavity with a pouring opening. The edge of the foil is spaced apart from the bridge and the assembly has passages between the dots, the foil, and the front mould surface allowing pouring a monomer into the cavity before curing the monomer, decomposing the assembly and cutting the lens from the polymer block.
