Sensing in tires for rolling resistance
Described herein are systems and methods for determination of rolling resistance from a sensor or sensors in a tire or tires for application in smart cars to provide feedback to interested parties, such as Departments of Transportation or tire manufacturers.
TIRE COMPRISING A RADIOFREQUENCY TRANSPONDER
A tire fitted with a transponder comprises: a crown comprising a crown reinforcement having an axial end at each of its edges, connected at each of its axial ends by a sidewall to a bead having an interior end; a carcass reinforcement layer formed of parallel reinforcers, which is anchored in each bead around a bead wire to form a main part and a turn-up; the transponder comprising a core defining a first axis, a first cover filament helically twisted around the core and an electrical insulation device; and the first cover filament comprising at least two conductive filamentary elements galvanically connected to an electronic chip comprising a radiofrequency transmission-reception component. The thickness of elastomeric compound separating the outer cover filament, located radially outermost with respect to the first axis, and the reinforcements is greater than 0.5 millimeters.
TIRE HAVING A RADIOFREQUENCY TRANSPONDER
A tire having a transponder comprises: a crown which has a crown reinforcement with an axial end at each edge, joined at each of its axial ends to a bead, which has an inner end, by a sidewall; a carcass reinforcement which is formed of adjacent first wires and is anchored in each bead around a spiral formed by second wires; the transponder comprising a core defining a first axis, a first cover wire helically wound around the core and an electrical insulation device; and the first cover wire comprising at least two conductive wire elements galvanically connected to an electronic chip comprising a radiofrequency transceiver component. The thickness of the elastomer mixture separating the outer cover wire, which is located furthest outwards from the first axis, and the reinforcements is greater than 0.5 millimeter.
Tire suitable for running flat equipped with an electronic member
A tire suitable for running flat comprises a crown, two sidewalls and two beads, a carcass reinforcement with at least one carcass ply anchored in each bead and a sidewall insert placed axially internally relative to at least the carcass ply, wherein the tire is equipped with an electronic device comprising at least one radiofrequency transponder and wherein, each bead comprising a bead wire of revolution about a reference axis and H being one of the points of the bead wire closest to the axis of revolution, the electronic device is placed axially in a zone of the tire bounded by at least one of the beads and one of the sidewalls and radially externally at a radial distance larger than 20 mm from the point H.
Method for inserting an insert into a tire
The aim of the disclosed solution is to present a method of inserting an insert to a tread a tire such that the insert, particularly a fragile insert such as an insert comprising electronic components, may be protected against gripping and impact forces during its insertion. The disclosed solution is premised on an insert being housed, at least partially, in a sleeve upon and during its installation to a tread of a tire. Thus, the sleeve may be employed to provide protection for the insert against gripping and/or impact forces during the insertion of the insert into the tread a tire.
Container structure for attaching sensors to tires and method of manufacturing tire container structure
Provided is a container structure for attaching sensors to tires and, more particularly, to a container structure for attaching sensors to tires, the container structure being able to prevent sensors attached to tires from being damaged by intense heat. The container structure can include: a bottom container that is attached to the inner liner of a tire; a top container that extends from the top of the bottom container and has an insertion space in which a sensor can be inserted; and a channel part that is formed on the inner side of the top container, in which the channel part is provided such that air can cool the sensor by flowing inside and outside with the sensor inserted in the top container.
Tire sensor installation structure and manufacturing method thereof
The disclosed technology generally relates to an installation structure for installing a sensor module, and more particularly relates to an installation structure for installing a sensor module on a tire, and to a method of manufacturing the installation structure. In one aspect, the installation structure includes a sensor module housing configured to accommodate a sensor module and at least one sensor patch each comprising a bonding portion configured to attach to an inner side of a tire and a pressing portion configured to place and maintain the sensor module housing in contact with an installation position on the inner side of the tire. The pressing portion is configured to apply a downward pressure on a top portion of the sensor module housing by elastically extending and contracting.
Tire electronics securing structures
A tire and securing element assembly includes a tire inflated at a first pressure and a securing element. The securing element is an inflatable hoop inflated at a second pressure at least 10% greater than the first pressure. The securing element abuts an inner surface of the tire across 30-90% of a tread width. The securing element has a cross sectional area between about 0.4 and 47.0 cm.sup.2.
Tire and tire manufacturing method
A tire including a rubber sheet which covers an end of the carcass ply which has been folded back and an RFID tag serving as an electronic component provided between the bead filler and the rubber sheet, in which the bead filler is formed in an annular shape, the rubber sheet is formed in an annular shape by one end side and another end side of a long sheet being joined, and the RFID tag serving as the electronic component is disposed between the bead filler and the rubber sheet at a joint part which is a portion of the rubber sheet which is joined.
Self-monitoring tire of vehicle
A self-monitoring tire includes a tire body and a tire pressure sensor. The tire body includes a tread rubber for contact with ground, a bead for coupling to a rim, and a sidewall structure including two portions disposed at opposite sides of the tread rubber, and extending from opposite sides of the tread rubber to the bead. The tire pressure sensor is disposed between respective outward surfaces of the two portions of the sidewall structure, and secured on or embedded in either one of the two portions of the sidewall structure.
