GRC (glass-resin composite) monofilament

A monofilament made of glass-resin composite has improved properties in compression, in particular at high temperature, and comprises glass filaments embedded in a crosslinked resin. The glass transition temperature of the resin is equal to or greater than 190° C. The elongation at break of the monofilament, measured at 23° C., is equal to or greater than 4.0%. The initial tensile modulus of the monofilament, measured at 23° C., is greater than 35 GPa. The real part of the complex modulus of the monofilament, measured at 190° C. by the DMTA method, is greater than 30 GPa. Pneumatic or non-pneumatic tires are reinforced with such a composite monofilament.

Polyurea that is particularly useful as an adhesion primer for adhering metal to rubber

A polyurea comprises at least urea base units of formula —NH—CO—NH— and additional units. The additional units comprise at least, on the one hand, a secondary alcohol functional group and, on the other hand, an ether, thioether or secondary amine functional group in the alpha position with respect to the secondary alcohol functional group. Such a polymer can be used as an adhesion primer for the adhesive bonding of a substrate, for example, glass or metal, to an unsaturated rubber or as corrosion-resistant protective coating for a metal substrate. Metal reinforcers, such as thread, cord, film or plate, coated can also be coated with such a polymer.

RUBBER REINFORCING MATERIAL WITH REDUCED WEIGHT, METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME AND TIRE COMPRISING THE SAME
20230173777 · 2023-06-08 ·

This invention relates to rubber reinforcing material with reduced weight, a method for preparing the same, and a tire including the same. According to this invention, there is provided a rubber reinforcing material that has a thin thickness and a light weight, and yet has excellent durability. The reinforcing material not only reduces the weight of a tire, but also enables realization of improved rolling resistance.

Composite reinforcer sheathed with a layer of polymer that is self-adhesive to rubber

A composite reinforcer that can adhere directly to a diene rubber matrix is usable as a reinforcing element for a pneumatic tire. The composite reinforcer includes at least one reinforcing thread, such as a carbon steel cord. Covering each thread individually or several threads collectively is a layer of a thermoplastic polymer composition. The thermoplastic polymer composition includes at least one thermoplastic polymer have a glass transition temperature that is positive, a poly(p-phenylene ether) (PPE), and a functionalized unsaturated thermoplastic styrene (TPS) elastomer having a glass transition temperature that is negative. The TPS elastomer includes a functional group selected from: an epoxide group, a carboxyl group, an acid anhydride group, and an ester group. A process for manufacturing such a composite reinforcer is presented, as well as a process for producing a rubber article, especially a pneumatic tire, incorporating such a composite reinforcer.

CORD FABRIC FOR TIRE REINFORCEMENT

A tire reinforcement fabric is woven with predipped and heat-set single cords as warp bound together with weft materials, and a pneumatic tire includes a tire reinforcement fabric. The tire reinforcement fabric is obtained by weaving individually dipped cords as warp material and a plurality of any kind of weft materials.
