Methods and apparatus for installing a tread ring upon a tire carcass
Exemplary embodiments of the subject invention comprise methods and apparatus for mounting a tread ring onto a tire carcass. Such methods may include the step of providing a tire tread ring having opposing side edges; arranging the tread ring in an initial ring arrangement in communication with a pressure source, the pressure source being in communication with an outer side of the tread ring; expanding the tread ring radially outward from the initial ring arrangement to an expanded arrangement, the tread ring being expanded by applying vacuum pressure along the outer side of the tread ring supplied by the pressure source; inserting a tire carcass within a central opening of the tread ring while in the expanded arrangement; contracting the tread ring into an installed arrangement about an outer surface of the tire carcass; and, releasing the vacuum along the outer side of the tread ring.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ARTICLES MADE FROM CRUMB RUBBER
A process for manufacturing an article made of recovered rubber crumb is provided. According to the process:
a) crumb particles are mixed with particles of a solute;
b) a molded article is produced by molding the mixture from step a) in a closed mold under predetermined temperature and pressure conditions; and
c) the molded article is brought into contact with a solvent so as to dissolve at least one portion of the particles of said solute.
Tire tread with a band layer
A non-pneumatic tire includes an inner ring having an axis of rotation and an outer ring coaxial with the inner ring. The non-pneumatic tire further includes support structure extending from the inner ring to the outer ring and a circumferential tread extending about the outer ring. The circumferential tread includes a band layer constructed of a single material and a tread rubber layer directly attached to the band layer.
TIRE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A manufacturing method includes the steps of: (A) preparing first and second sheet pieces 20a and 20b made of unvulcanized rubber; and (B) winding a long sheet 26 on a drum 6. The long sheet 26 includes the first and second sheet pieces 20a and 20b, and the second sheet piece 20b has a front edge joined to a rear edge of the first sheet piece 20a. Preferably, the step (B) includes the steps of: (B′1) joining the front edge of the second sheet piece 20b to the rear edge of the first sheet piece 20a to obtain the long sheet 26; and (B′2) feeding the sheet 26 from a servicer 4 to the drum 6 while rotating the drum 6 to wind the sheet 26 on the drum 6.
TIRE WITH COMPOSITE TREAD AND METHOD OF MAKING
A method for forming a composite tread is described, wherein the method includes the steps of selecting a first tread compound having a first desired tread property, and selecting a second tread compound having a second desired property, forming a tread by winding a dual layer strip having a first layer formed of the first tread compound and a second layer formed of the second compound, wherein the tread has a first and second zone, wherein each zone is formed by spirally winding the dual layer strip, wherein the first zone is formed of a dual layer strip having a strip ratio of the volumetric proportion of the first compound to the second compound used to form the dual layer strip, wherein the second zone has a different strip ratio than the first zone by varying the volumetric proportion of the first compound to the second compound.
Method for retreading a tire casing using a roller
A method of retreading a tire casing includes the step of disposing a cured rubber tread on a carcass with a layer of hot-melt material interposed between the tread and the carcass. The method continues with the step of rollering the tread by means of at least one roller with a width (r) that is less than a width (b) of the tread.
Methods and apparatus for installing a tread ring upon a tire carcass
Exemplary embodiments of the subject invention comprise methods and apparatus for mounting a tread ring onto a tire carcass. Such methods include providing a tire tread ring having opposing side edges, arranging the tread ring in an initial ring arrangement in communication with a pressure source, and expanding the tread ring radially outward from the initial ring arrangement to an expanded arrangement. The pressure source is in communication with an outer side of the tread ring, the tread ring being expanded by applying vacuum pressure along the outer side of the tread ring supplied by the pressure source. Such methods also include inserting a tire carcass within a central opening of the tread ring while in the expanded arrangement, contracting the tread ring into an installed arrangement about an outer surface of the tire carcass, and, releasing the vacuum along the outer side of the tread ring.
System and method for tire retreading
Systems and methods for retreading a tire are disclosed. Embodiments include applying a layer of adhesive (e.g., Cushing gum) on the exterior of a prepared tire casing and a layer of pre-molded tread on the exterior of the adhesive. An inner electric heating pad is placed along the interior contour of the tire casing and/or an outer electric heating pad is placed along an exterior of the tread layer. The assembly is then cured by providing a force to the assembly while activating the heating pad(s) to cure the adhesive.
Apparatus for mounting tread ring on tire base and method for manufacturing retreaded tire
An apparatus 1 for mounting an annular tread ring R on an outer peripheral surface TS of a tire base T, which includes a tire base holding section 2 which is movable between a first position P1 and a second position P2 while holding the tire base T, and a tread ring mounting section 3 for mounting the tread ring R on the outer peripheral surface TS of the tire base T. The tread ring mounting section 3 comprises a tread holder 10 for holding the inner circumferential surface of the tread ring R, and a tread pushing-out device 11 for pushing out the tread ring R in the axis direction. At the second position P2, after placing the tread ring R on the outer peripheral surface TS of the tire base T in the tire base holding section 2, the tread ring mounting section 3 pushes out the tread ring R from the tread holder 10 toward the first position P1 by the tread pushing-out device 11. And the tire base holding section 2 moves toward the first position P1 at the same speed as the pushing-out speed of the tread pushing-out device 11. Thereby, the tread ring R is mounted on the outer peripheral surface TS of the tire base T.
