Apparatus for purification of plastic material intended for food contact
A polyethylene terephthalate purification apparatus comprises at least a reactor (4) which houses the plastic material to be purified, an opening connected to a vacuum pump, stirrers (16) to ensure the stirring of the plastic material inside of the reactor (4) and a heating mechanism comprising a microwave heating device to promote the excitation of the polar molecules.
Processes for recycling carpet and products of such processes
Methods for the recycling of carpet are disclosed that produce clean face fiber suitable for industrial use. The methods allow the recovery of face fiber material, for example a polyester or a polyamide, from carpets that includes a face fiber material and a backing material, and include the steps of heating the carpet to a temperature lower than the melting point of the face fiber material, but higher than the initial thermal decomposition temperature of the backing material, for a time and at a temperature sufficient to thermally decompose, pyrolyze, or oxidize at least a portion of the backing material, rendering the backing material friable, that is more friable than the untreated backing; and applying mechanical force to the carpet so as to liberate the friable backing material from the face fiber material.
Washing and separating method and apparatus for plastics materials
A method and apparatus for washing and separating pieces of plastics material from contaminants includes supplying to a washing container pieces of plastics material containing contaminating material and an entering flow of washing fluid. A turbulent stirring action to detach and separate mechanically the contaminating material from the plastics material is generated, evacuating through overflowing, through an outlet port An outlet flow of washing fluid and a quantity of plastics material that has undergone the turbulent stirring action is evacuated by overflow through an outlet port. A controlled-conveying and retaining arrangement is driven to retain the plastics material in the washing container and to advance in a controlled manner the quantity of plastics material to the outlet port independently of the advancement of the outlet flow of washing fluid. An adjustable bulkhead is arranged in the washing fluid at a depth with respect to the free surface to divert from the outlet port the pieces of plastics material that, once supplied to the container, by advancing more on the surface, tend to reach the outlet zone of the washings container. The bulkhead guides and forces the pieces of plastics to undergo the turbulent stirring action to separate and detach the adhering contaminants therefrom.
ARCHITECTURAL RESIN PANEL WITH INCORPORATED SCRAP MATERIALS
An architectural resin panel that incorporates plastic granules fused together to form a panel core. A portion of the plastic granules are contaminant granules that at least partially include a contaminant material, such as a piece of fabric, plastic film, or plant material. The granules used to form the panel core may be sourced from waste plastic material that would otherwise be required to undergo waste processing.
Post-consumer scrap film recycling system and process
A system and method for processing a supply of post-consumer scrap linear low density or low density polyethylene film into near-virgin quality blown film product. The method includes tearing the supply of film in a shredder, wherein the surface area of the film is exposed, including delaminating the film. The torn supply of film is washed in a water bath including a surfactant. The film is agitated in the bath containing the surfactant wherein contaminants on the film are removed from the film. The washed film is ground into smaller pieces and additional washing of the ground film in a rotating friction washer and a sink float tank occurs wherein additional contaminants are removed from the film. The ground film is then dried and compacted without addition of water into granulated objects of near-virgin quality blown film product.

Method for manufacturing a plastic composition
A method for manufacturing a plastic composition, comprising: mixing thermoplastic polymer material particles and thermoset composition particles comprising cured thermoset polymer, the mixing comprising rising the temperature of the composition and at least partly melting the surface of thermoplastic polymer material particles, and simultaneously mixing the particles allowing thermoset composition particles adhere to the thermoplastic polymer material particles, and cooling the composition.
Method and apparatus for washing sheets of plastic material
A method and apparatus for washing sheets of plastic material originating from industrial and agricultural waste, for subsequent reuse thereof as a raw material. The sheets of plastic material, precut into soiled pieces of large dimensions, and a water flow are supplied to a washing tank containing a water bath; a screw stirrer generates intense stirring of the water bath and recirculation, inside the tank, of the soiled plastic pieces that causes the contaminating material to be detached and separated by sedimentation from the plastic pieces. The cleaned pieces of plastic material of large dimensions, devoid of contaminant, which float in the water bath are removed by dragging, in a floating condition, along a discharging channel by the combined action of a dragging device and of a water flow that exits the washing tank; the dragging device, consisting of an endless belt, extends from one side of the washing tank along the discharging channel, supported in a freely tiltable manner.

PROCESS FOR FABRICATION OF PAINTS BASED ON EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (EPS) WASTE
The invention is related with the paint industry to use on surfaces of solid materials. The invention is a process to obtain paints using expanded polystyrene (EPS) waste as a raw material. From this technology we pursue to transform a waste into a useful product, saving resources and at the same time contributing to solve environmental contamination problems. This invention is composed by the following stages, a.-mixing the EPS waste with an organic solvent until reaching a concentration between 20% and 80% p/p; decanting impurities of the mixture obtained in stage (a) during 24 to 120 h; c.-collecting the supernatant obtained in stage (b); d.-dispersing a pigment in the supernatant obtained in stage (c) during 10 to 30 min at a velocity between 1.000 rpm and 2.000 rpm; e.-mixing the substance obtained in stage (d) with an organic solvent at a velocity between 300 rpm and 1.000 rpm until reaching the desired concentration. Additionally, the invention claims the formulation of a paint that is formed by 0% to 40% of pigment, 70% to 1% of EPS, 0.5% to 5.0% of dispersant, and the difference is solvent.
