Composite aerostructure with integrated heating element
A heated composite structure and a method for forming a heated composite structure. The structure includes carbon fibers embedded within a thermoplastic matrix. The carbon fibers are connected with first and second electrodes that are configured to be connected with an electric source such that applying current to the electrodes causes current to flow through the embedded carbon fibers to provide resistive heating sufficient to heat the composite structure to impede formation of ice on the composite structure.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE BLADE FOR AN AIRCRAFT ENGINE
A process for manufacturing a blade made of composite material for a turbomachine is provided. The blade includes an airfoil having a pressure side and a suction side which extend from a leading edge to a trailing edge of the airfoil. The blade further includes a metal sheath that extends along the leading edge of the airfoil. The process includes the steps of: a) placing a preform, made by three-dimensionally weaving fibers, in a mold, a polymerizable adhesive being inserted between the sheath and the edge of the preform; and b) injecting polymerizable resin into the mold to impregnate the preform so as to form the airfoil after solidifying, wherein the resin is injected within a time interval during which the adhesive reaches a freezing point.
Carbon fiber recycling method
A carbon fiber recycling method utilizes a carbon fiber recycling device for recycling carbon fiber from a carbon fiber polymer composite by using a microwave. The carbon fiber recycling device has a cavity and at least one microwave supplying unit. The carbon fiber recycling method adjusts the microwave supplying unit to change the angle between the long axis direction of the cavity and the electric field direction, and to make the long axis direction of the carbon fiber parallel to the electric field direction. By radiating the microwave on the carbon fiber polymer composite, energy of the microwave is quickly absorbed by the carbon fiber to quickly increase a temperature of the carbon fiber, and the carbon fiber polymer composite is effectively and quickly decomposed to remove most polymer matrix of the carbon fiber polymer composite, so as to achieve the objective of recycling the carbon fiber indeed.

HYBRID PART MANUFACTURING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system and method for manufacturing a part in a mold having a mold cavity including a printhead for depositing a first material within the mold cavity, and an injection head for depositing a second material within the mold cavity. A part can be made in the mold cavity by the cooperative use of both injection molding and additive manufacturing steps.
FILAMENT GUIDING AND RETENTION MACHINE AND METHOD OF USE
A guidance and maintenance machine (100) includes a guide roller (102) and an application roller (104), each having a plurality of respective grooves (102a, 104a) defined on a respective circumferential surface (102b, 104b). The guidance and maintenance machine includes at least one preparation comb (200) having a support (202) with an upper surface (202d) from which a plurality of teeth (204) extend. The teeth, with a predetermined uniform height, are aligned in parallel along a length of the support and are positioned at a pitch between them in correspondence with corresponding grooves (102a) of the guide roller (102) so that the comb (200) feeds filaments (50) from a supply creel (304), where the filaments are stored, to the guide roller (102) at a predetermined pitch positioning outside the guide roller.
FILAMENT GUIDING AND MAINTENANCE MACHINE AND METHOD OF USE
A guidance and maintenance machine (100) includes an upper guide roller (102) and a lower guide roller (104), each guide roller (102, 104) having a plurality of circumferential grooves (102a, 104a) defined on a respective circumferential surface (102b, 104b). At least one preparation comb (200), provided in correspondence with each guide roller (102, 104), has a support (202) with an upper surface (202d) from which a plurality of teeth (204) extend. The teeth are aligned and parallel along the length of the support. The teeth attributed to the upper guide roller are positioned at a pitch therebetween in correspondence with the grooves of the upper guide roller, and the teeth attributed to the lower guide roller are positioned at a pitch therebetween in correspondence with the grooves of the lower guide roller.
Method for producing a material web, use thereof as a reinforcing ply for an elastomer item, and vehicle pneumatic tires
The invention is directed to a vehicle pneumatic tire wherein strengthening plies are provided with steel cords running parallel to one another. The belt plies can be used, as isolated electrically conductive plates, for supplying electricity to electrical consumers such as sensors and actuators installed in the tire. Adjacent belt plies can be connected by puncture sensors to be able to identify damage to the belt caused by metallic parts penetrating from the outside, such as nails, on the basis of a change in the electrical resistance.
Method for Composite Truss Manufacturing
Methods for fabricating fiber-composite truss structures comprise a) individually molding multiple unit cells of a given size, and subsequently fusing them together in a repeating pattern, b) cross members are consolidated with longerons while maintaining continuity of fiber in the longerons, and c) compression-molded truss components are unioned to continuous fiber beams by means of mechanically interlocking joints.
ARTICLE, PROCESS AND ASSEMBLY FOR FORMING A RIGID ARTICLE ENCAPSULATING AN ORIENTED GLASS STRAND SUBSTRATE
A process and assembly for producing a two stage injection molded article encapsulating an oriented glass strand mat substrate. A rotary press is incorporated into the injection mold assembly and which enables repetitive repositioning of an intermediate injection molded article into a second mold defining cavity for second stage molding and simultaneous with first stage molding of a subsequent glass strand composite positioned within the first mold cavity.
