Two piece bonded assembly vehicle components
A vehicle component is provided that includes a first cured layer of a molding composition having a predominant fiber filler chopped glass fibers, a second cured layer of molding composition having a predominant fiber filler chopped carbon fibers, and an elastomeric bonding agent with elongation properties configured to accommodate the differential coefficients of linear thermal expansion between the first cured layer and the second cured layer. The second cured layer is substantially devoid of glass fiber. The bonding agent is an elastomeric adhesive, which is operative from −40 to 205° C. The first cured layer forms an outer skin layer surface of a vehicle and the second cured layer forms an interior layer, where the outer skin layer surface has a class-A finish.
Resin composition and resin molded body
Provided is a resin composition containing: a cellulose acetate in which the weight average polymerization degree is 120-330 and the degree of substitution of an acetyl group is 2.10-2.60; a (meth)acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 1000-30000; and a plasticizer.
SUPPORT MATERIAL FORMULATIONS USABLE IN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS AT LOW TEMPERATURES
Formulations usable as support material in additive manufacturing such as 3D inkjet printing and which feature a viscosity of no more than 50 cPs at 35 C., are provided. The formulations are composed of at least one hydrophilic curable material which provides, when hardened, a material that is dissolvable or swellable in an aqueous solution; and at least one non-curable material that is capable of being swelled by said hardened material formed of said at least one curable material. Additive manufacturing processes utilizing these formulations and objects obtained thereby are also provided.
Monofilament-reinforced hollow fiber membrane with scalloped lumen
A hollow fiber membrane is formed by embedding a braid having a spiral open weave of monofilaments only, to avoid a whiskering problem. The open weave is characterized by contiguous, circumferential, rhomboid-shaped areas of polymer film separated by monofilaments. When the braid is supported on a plasticized PVA cable having a scalloped periphery, the braid can be infiltrated with membrane polymer which, when coagulated, embeds the braid positioning it around the lumen. The embedded spiral weave, free of any circumferentially constricting monofilament, allows the membrane to be biaxially distensible. The membrane has give not only in the axial or longitudinal direction but also in the radial direction. Give in the radial direction permits soiled membranes to be backwashed under higher pressure than in a comparable braid which is not radially distensible.

HYBRIDIZED RECYCLED FIBERGLASS AND THERMOPLASTIC COMINGLED TECHNICAL YARN
A method of preparing a continuous yarn from comingled discontinuous glass fiber and thermoplastic fiber is described. An exemplary yarn comprising comingled recycled glass fiber and acrylic fiber is described. Methods of preparing fiber-reinforced composite components from the yarn are also described. The fiber-reinforced composite components can be used in a variety of applications. In an exemplary application, the composite is used to provide component parts for a model rocket body and nosecone.

Plastic image fiber and method for fabrication of same
The object of the present invention is to provide a plastic image fiber having a small optical transmission loss. The plastic image fiber comprises N (where N is an integer equal to or greater than 2) number of cores which are disposed within a cladding. The each of the cores has an index of reflection that continuously changes at a peripheral part of the core. The index of reflection at the peripheral part on a center side of the core is greater than an index of reflection at the peripheral part on a cladding side.
