At least one overlay overlays the displayed video images to guide the driver during the hitching maneuver. The at least one overlay aids in guiding connection of the trailer hitch of the vehicle to the trailer tongue of the trailer.

3D PRINTED ITEM WITH SURFACE WITH A WOVEN APPEARANCE

The invention provides a method wherein 3D printed layers are stacked, but wherein at one or more positions one layer is shifted sideways relative to the other. It looks like a (small) excursion. Hence, the one layer deviates sideways from the layer below and returns back on the layer below. This may be over a relatively small length. The excursion is chosen such, that there is an opening between the lower layer and the layer that deviates sideways. In this way, a 3D printed item comprising a stack of layers may have (physical) openings, which allow transmission of light. In general, the layer height of the layers is not adapted. The deviations or excursions may be provided in a regular way. This provides a 3D printed with a regular arrangement of openings Note that not each layer of the 3D printed item necessarily includes such deviations or excursions.

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin substrate for a curved mirror and a method for preparing the same, and a curved mirror and a head-up display comprising the thermoplastic resin substrate. The preparation method comprises the following steps: A) heating up a mold of an injection molding machine to a temperature in a range of 130-190° C. and closing the mold, B) injecting a molten thermoplastic resin into the cavity of the mold cavity, C) applying a pressure of 300-700 bar to the cavity for a period of 5 or more seconds, D) stopping applying pressure and cooling the mold to a temperature in a range of 60-100° C. within 10-50 seconds, and E) opening the mold and taking out the molded thermoplastic resin substrate, wherein a gap of 0.3-1 mm is left between the parting surfaces of the cavity of the mold prior to applying the pressure to the cavity. The thermoplastic resin substrate according to the present invention features a large size, high dimensional stability, and low surface roughness. It can be used for future augmented reality head-up displays to realize large-area, long-distance projection and high-precision imaging, thereby satisfying the requirements for driving safety and comfort of future automobiles.

A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a rear backup camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and a control disposed in the vehicle. A display device includes a video display screen operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. Responsive to the driver initiating a hitching maneuver event by engaging reverse gear of the vehicle, rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed at the video display screen. An overlay overlays the displayed rear backup video images and aids in guiding connection of a trailer hitch of the equipped vehicle to a trailer tongue of a trailer. Continued display of rear backup video images that are overlaid by the overlay is ceased upon elapse of a threshold period of time or upon exceeding a threshold speed or upon exceeding a threshold distance traveled.

Multi-camera vision system for a vehicle

A multi-camera vision system for a vehicle includes a plurality of video cameras having respective fields of view external of the vehicle. Captured image data is provided to and processed at a central data processor in order to detect objects that are within the field of view of at least some of the video cameras. The vehicle is equipped with a sensor system having at least one non-visual sensor that senses sensor data in a region external of the vehicle. The sensed sensor data is provided to the central data processor. A potential hazard present exterior the vehicle is determined to exist via processing at the central data processor of at least one of received image data and received sensor data.

Hybrid organic-inorganic micromirror device and method of making a hybrid microdevice

A hybrid organic-inorganic micromirror device includes a micromirror comprising an inorganic material positioned above an elastomeric substrate. The micromirror is supported on an underside thereof by a conductive elastomeric support protruding from the elastomeric substrate. The conductive elastomeric support may function as a universal joint and is rendered electrically conductive by an electrically conductive coating thereon. A plurality of electrodes are disposed on the elastomeric substrate under the micromirror. The electrodes are spaced apart from each other and from the micromirror and are arranged around the conductive elastomeric support. Each electrode comprises an inorganic material and is in electrical contact with an elastomeric contact region protruding from the elastomeric substrate. When a voltage bias is applied between the micromirror and one or more of the electrodes, the micromirror is electrostatically actuated to move in a predetermined direction.

PROCESS FOR FORMING AN ARTICLE WITH A PRECISION SURFACE

A process for forming an article having at least one precision surface is disclosed. The process includes providing a thin sheet in contact with a surface of a mandrel. The process then includes establishing a pressure differential between opposite sides of the thin sheet using a collapsible enclosure so that the thin sheet is drawn onto the mandrel surface, thereby causing the thin sheet to substantially conform to the shape of the mandrel surface. The shaped thin sheet is then secured to a support member to define the article. The article is then removed from the mandrel. The front surface of the thin sheet defines the precision surface of the article. A process for forming a dual-sided precision article is also disclosed, along with an adaptive optical system and method that employs the precision article.

Polygonal mirror, deflector, optical scanning apparatus and image forming apparatus

A polygonal mirror includes reflecting surfaces, a molded member including a first surface and a second surface, a contact portion, and gate marks. Each of said first surface and said second surface has a polygonal shape. The contact portion and the gate marks are formed at non-overlapping positions with a line segment connecting a vertex of the polygonal shape with a rotation center. The gate marks and the reflecting surfaces are the same in number. A perpendicular bisector of a line segment connecting centers of the gate marks adjacent to each other with respect to a rotational direction of the polygonal mirror is formed at a position passing through an associated vertex of the polygonal shape and the rotation center.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING AN ADHESIVE BOND BETWEEN A FIRST COMPONENT AND A SECOND COMPONENT

Method and device for producing an adhesive bond between a first component and a second component (optical element) for microlithography. The method involves: introducing the first and second components into a positioning device for changing the relative position between the first and second components, calibrating a first relative position, in which a distance between the first and second components has a first value defining a predefined adhesive gap, calibrating a second relative position, in which a distance between the first and second components has a second value greater than the first value, applying adhesive to the first component while the first and second components are at a distance greater than the first value, and setting the first relative position while forming the adhesive bond between the first and second components. Calibrating the first and second relative positions are carried out before the adhesive is applied to the first component.
