FORMING METHOD AND INSTRUMENT PANEL

Provided are a forming method of forming, with high efficiency, a tear line groove even with a layout of unsuitable for processing for drawing a locus in a unicursal manner, and an instrument panel formed by the forming method. The forming method is a method of forming a tear line groove in an airbag deployment portion, the tear line groove including: an airbag deployment portion forming step of applying, as one die of two dies constituting a cavity into which a molten resin is injected to form the airbag deployment portion, a die having a ridge protruding inwardly in the cavity to form a part of the tear line groove; and a post-processing step of processing the remaining tear line groove, which were not formed in the airbag deployment portion forming step.

Air bag assembly with an air bag guide and an interior trim component and method for producing the same

An air bag guide for a motor vehicle, includes a molded component defining a guide channel with an exit opening so the air bag can exit from the guide channel. The molded component is a thermoplastic material or a thermoplastic matrix and includes an insert inserted into the molded component. A first section of the insert, connects the insert with the molded component. A second section hingedly connects to the first section that is movable and opens under the action of the air bag upon exiting the guide channel then closes the exit opening. The insert is of the same thermoplastic material as the molded component or includes the same thermoplastic matrix and is self-reinforcing at least in the second section.

Flexible molded skin

The present invention relates to a flexible molded skin as part of a composite structure for an airbag cover, and to a composition for producing such a skin using slush molding. The composition and flexible molded skin have a thermoplastic plasticized vinyl polymer, and a tear promoting agent selected from the group of one or more particulate blowing agents, inorganic mineral materials, organic filler materials and microspheres or a mixture of two or more of the afore mentioned materials. The particles of the particulate tear promoting agent have an average particle size of between 0.005 and 50 μm, preferably between 0.005 and 40 μm.

An airbag lid reinforcing member includes a door part, a flange part, a leg part and a hinge member. The flange part surrounds an outer periphery of the door part. The leg part is arranged on the flange part. An inside surface of the leg part defines support ribs supporting the hinge member. The support ribs are arranged with a gap in a width direction of the leg part. A portion of the hinge member is buried in the flange part. In a region of the hinge member between a tip of each of the support ribs and an end surface of the flange part, at least an upper part in a thickness direction of the hinge member is exposed from the support ribs. A portion of the hinge member positioned between adjacent ones of the support ribs is exposed from the support ribs and the flange part.

Airbag cover

An airbag cover includes a substrate and a skin adhered to the substrate. The substrate includes an H-shaped tear seam and doors that are disposed on both sides of a crossbar portion of the tear seam and openable for forming an emergence opening when the tear seam tears. The skin includes a breakable region that is formed into a straight line and breakable to form the emergence opening. The breakable region includes a central portion disposed immediately above the crossbar portion, and two extended portions which extend from opposite ends of the central portion to outside of the vertical portions. The skin further includes, in each of the extended portions of the breakable region, an unadhered region where the skin is not adhered to the substrate. Each of the unadhered regions has a band shape whose width is smaller than a length of the vertical-bar portion of the tear seam.

Airbag arrangement and method for manufacturing the same

An airbag arrangement comprising a flap, which closes a passage opening for an airbag, a hinge section along a side of the flap, an chute wall, which is connected to the flap via the hinge section; and a material web, which is partially arranged in the flap and partially in the chute wall, and transverses the hinge section, wherein the material web is molded into the chute wall and is anchored in the material of the chute wall.
