IMPROVED CARBON FIBRE WHEEL EXTERNAL FACE
A carbon fibre vehicle wheel including a wheel body having a rim portion and a face portion, the rim portion having an annulus structure configured to receive and seat a tyre. The face portion includes a hub configured to fix the wheel to the vehicle. A connection structure extends between and interconnects the hub and the rim. The wheel body has an inner side configured to face a wheel mount of the vehicle, and an outer side configured to face outwardly when connected to the wheel mount. The wheel body embodies a first carbon fibre composite composition including a carbon fibre layup infused with a first resin, and a fascia layer attached to at least a portion of the face portion of the outer side of the wheel body. The fascia layer embodies a second fibre composite composition including a selected fibre layup infused with a second resin.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FIBRE COMPOSITE BODY AND FIBRE COMPOSITE BODY
The invention relates to a method for producing a fibre composite body (2), in particular at least a part of a wheel, comprising the following steps: providing a mould (4) having at least one female mould part (6) and one male mould part, introducing a fibrous raw material (8) and a binder (10) into the female mould part (6), activating the binder (10) by an energy input (p, T) into the mould (4) to form a mould element (12) which is open to diffusion, joining together the mould element (12) which is open to diffusion and a preform structure (14), supplying a resin, so that the resin infiltrates at least partially into the mould element (12) which is open to diffusion and into the preform structure (14), and curing the resin, so that in this way the fibre composite body (2) is formed without a boundary layer.
Bicycle wheel rim
A composite rim for a bicycle wheel that has a wall of structural fibers incorporated in a thermosetting polymeric material and a plurality of spoke attachment seats. The composite material includes at least one layer of woven bi-directional fibers where some fibers are in a nominal direction substantially parallel to the circumferential direction of the rim and some fibers are substantially orthogonal to the circumferential direction of the rim.
Bicycle wheel component with braking area made of composite material and related manufacturing process
A process for manufacturing a bicycle wheel component, comprising the steps of providing a component having at least one braking area that cooperates with a braking body made by molding of composite material having structural fibers in a polymeric material, and post-molding machining of at least one region of the braking area by removing only polymeric material, without removal of the structural fiber, from the entire region so that the structural fiber outcrops at least in part from the polymeric material, and removing the structural fiber and possibly the polymeric material according to at least one groove within the region. A bicycle wheel component having a braking area of composite material, wherein in a region of the braking area, the structural fiber outcrops at least from the polymeric material, and the region comprises a groove through the structural fiber and possibly the polymeric material of the composite material.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A TOOTHED WHEEL BY COMPRESSION INJECTION MOLDING
A method for manufacturing a wheel, the method including a step of making a rim on a radially outer peripheral edge of a carrier core, during the step said carrier core, which extends from a radially inner wall forming a steering axis bore corresponding to the axis of rotation of the wheel, until the peripheral edge, is placed in a mold formed by at least one first portion and one second portion, then an injection material is injected by means of at least one injection nozzle so as to coat, by overmolding, at least partially said carrier core in order to form the rim, wherein after the injection of the injection material, the first portion of the mold and the second portion of the mold are brought closer to each other such that the injection material is compressed in the mold.
ROLLER
A roller including: a main body portion configured to include an outer ring and a rotatable inner ring on an inner circumferential side of the outer ring; and a covering portion disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the outer ring, the covering portion being made of a synthetic resin in which reinforced fibers are dispersed, wherein the covering portion includes a region in which arrangement directions of the reinforced fibers are aligned.
NATURAL FIBER COMPOSITE BICYCLE COMPONENT
A rim for a bicycle wheel includes a radially inner portion disposed along an inner circumference of the rim. The rim also includes a first sidewall, a second sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall, and a radially outer tire engaging portion disposed along an outer circumference of the rim. The first sidewall, the second sidewall, the radially outer tire engaging portion, the radially inner portion, or any combination thereof includes a composite laminate. The composite laminate includes a layer of a composite material. The composite material includes a matrix of a polymer-based material and natural fibers of a reinforcing material. A volume of a respective one of the natural fibers of the layer of the composite material is greater before lamination of the composite laminate compared to the volume of the respective one natural fiber after the lamination of the composite laminate.
Shaped preform for face portion of a composite wheel
A shaped preform component (200) for a face portion (104) of a composite wheel (100), the shaped preform (200) having a hub (206) that extends around a central axis (Y), the shaped preform component (200) being formed from a cured composite fibre material having a compressibility of <2% volumetric under moulding conditions of 50 bar hydrostatic pressure and a temperature of 60 to 200° C.
ADDITIVE-COATED SHEAVE, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND METHODS OF REDUCING SOUND PRODUCED BY EQUIPMENT
An additive-coated sheave assembly having a wheel with a groove in an outer circumferential surface of the wheel. The additive-coated sheave assembly can have an axle configured to support the wheel and a frame configured to receive and support the axle. A coating can be affixed to the groove by an additive manufacturing process. A method of manufacturing a sheave by coating the groove with a coating by an additive manufacturing process is also disclosed.
