High volume manufacturing method for precision articles based on three-dimensional printing

A three-dimensional printing system includes a print engine and a controller. The controller in turn includes a processor coupled to a non-transient memory. The non-transient memory stores software instructions that when executed by the processor cause the controller to operate the print engine to fabricate a body. The body includes a three-dimensional arrangement of 3D articles that are pairwise coupled together. An individual pair of the arrangement of 3D articles includes a first article and a second article. A curved body couples a first surface of the first article to the second article. The curved body intersects the first surface to define a closed intersection curve that bounds a break surface. Along the closed intersection curve a surface of the curved body subtends an acute angle with the first surface.

Method for manufacturing fiber-reinforced plastic

A method for producing a fiber reinforced plastic can suppress with which wrinkling or bridging in a convex surface or a concave surface having a large curvature at the same time even if the fiber reinforced plastic has a complicated three-dimensional shape. Such methods for producing a fiber reinforced plastic may involve shaping a prepreg sheet in which continuous fibers are impregnated with a resin material into a three-dimensional shape to produce a fiber reinforced plastic (a); wherein at least a portion of the continuous fibers in an area (X) of the prepreg sheet corresponding to an area (X′) in which the fiber reinforced plastic (a) is shear-deformed is bent in an in-plane direction in advance.

Method of forming polyethylene terephthalate foam plate

Method of forming a plate including providing a sheet of polyethylene terephthalate foam and thermoforming the polyethylene terephthalate foam into a plate. The plate comprising a bottom wall having an outer perimeter, an upper surface, and a lower support surface defining a horizontal reference plane. The plate further comprising a sidewall extending upwardly and outwardly from the outer perimeter at an angle “a” of between about 30° to about 35° relative to a vertical axis perpendicular to the horizontal reference plane. The plate further including a rim extending laterally outwardly from an upper edge of the sidewall and a turndown flange extending downwardly from an outer edge of the rim and terminating at a free end.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR FORMING THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS USING A CURVED BUILD PLATFORM OR CURVED SOLIDIFICATION SUBSTRATE
20170246804 · 2017-08-31 ·

An apparatus and method for making a three-dimensional object from a solidifiable material using a linear solidification device is shown and described. Either a build platform or a solidification substrate has a curved surface, and each point on the curved surface traverses a trochoidal path during an object solidification operation. The curved surface allows the separation forces between the solidification substrate and the most recently solidified layer of material to be concentrated along a line instead of along a planar section which reduces the overall separation force and the likelihood of damaging a part.

Device and method for producing a curved fiber preform from a bi-or multidirectional fiber semi-finished product

A device for producing a curved fiber preform from a bi- or multidirectional fiber semi-finished product, in particular for an aircraft or spacecraft fuselage component has first lamellae and second lamellae formed to be couplable to one another criss-cross such that they are positioned on a shared plane and thus form a grid. The lamellae at least in part are formed resiliently bendable about an axis intersecting the shared plane such that a local orientation of the lamellae in the grid changes. An adhesion device or structure is formed for temporarily adhering the fiber semi-finished product and is configured such that the local fiber orientation of the fiber semi-finished product also changes accordingly when the lamellae bend.

Stormwater chamber with stackable reinforcing ribs

An arch-shaped corrugated chamber having corrugation peaks and valleys, with reinforcing ribs provided on the corrugation peaks. The ribs extend upwardly from a chamber base to a rib upper end, and have an arch-shaped cross-section with an outer surface extending outwardly from a corrugation peak and a fin extending inwardly from the corrugation peak, and optionally, a rib line provided on the rib outer surface centered on the rib arch-shaped cross-section. A channel formed by the inner surface of the rib is sized to receive a corresponding rib of a second chamber so that multiple similar chambers with ribs may be stacked together.

Continuous molded carbon fiber reinforced polymer slender curved component

A method and apparatus for forming a continuously molded carbon fiber reinforced polymer slender curved frame. A continuous supply of uncured carbon fiber reinforced polymer material is directed into a forming tool. The uncured carbon fiber reinforced polymer material is continuously molded into a desired shape in the forming tool. The carbon fiber reinforced polymer material is cured into a frame of the desired shape in the forming tool. The frame is removed from the forming tool. An out-of-plane curvature is put in the frame while the frame is in at least a portion of the forming tool.
