Method for Top Sealing a Cardboard Tray Lined with a Plastic Foil and Cardboard Tray Therefor
The invention relates to a method for top sealing a cardboard tray lined with a plastic foil. The method includes the steps of providing a cardboard tray having a bottom, upstanding walls arranged along the periphery of the bottom and a horizontal flange arranged along the upper edges of the upstanding walls, wherein the inside of the cardboard tray is lined with a plast foil, which plastic foil extends at least onto the horizontal flange; arranging the cardboard tray in a lower sealing tool member having a compressible support edge, wherein at least the horizontal flange is supported by the compressible support edge of the lower sealing tool member; arranging a cover foil over the cardboard tray arranged in the lower sealing tool member to cover the opening of the tray defined by the upper edges of the upstanding walls; and pressing a heated upper sealing tool member onto the lower sealing tool member, wherein the cover foil, the plastic foil liner and the horizontal flange are pressed together to seal the cover foil onto the plastic foil liner along the horizontal flange. The overlapping area of the plastic foil liner, the cover foil, and the compressible support edge extends at least partially outside of the area of the horizontal flange.
Method for making a container comprising an outer skeleton and an inner layer of thermoplastic material, related container and paper-industry article used in the method
A paper-industry article for making an outer skeleton (3) of a container (2) which also includes an inner layer (9) of thermoplastic material and which has a bottom wall (6), a plurality of lateral walls (5) and an annular perimetric flange (4), the outer skeleton (3) extending at the perimetric flange (4), at the lateral walls (5), at the bottom wall (6), wherein the paper-industry article (1) includes a continuous annular frame (7) intended to constitute the outer skeleton (3) of the container (2) at the perimetric flange (4) of the container (2), and a plurality of wings (10) which extend starting from the continuous annular frame (7), each of the wings (10) being intended to constitute the outer skeleton (3) at one of the lateral walls (5) of the container (2), and at least one of the wings (10) also being intended to constitute the outer skeleton (3) also at the bottom wall (6) of the container (2).
Container with liner
A container for holding a food product. The container can comprise a flange comprising a central panel. An opening can extend in the central panel. The container further can comprise a sidewall comprising at least a panel foldably connected to the central panel and a denesting feature extending outwardly from the sidewall. The denesting feature can be for engaging a nested container positioned below the container in a stacked arrangement and for forming a denesting gap between the flange and the nested container.
Container With Liner
A container for holding a food product. The container can comprise a base layer and a liner at least partially attached to an inner surface of the base layer, a flange comprising a central panel of the base layer, an opening extending in the central panel, and a sidewall comprising at least a panel foldably connected to the central panel along the opening.
Container With Liner
A container for holding a food product. The container can comprise a base layer and a liner at least partially attached to an inner surface of the base layer, a flange comprising a central panel, an opening extending in the central panel, and a sidewall comprising a plurality of panels. Each panel of the plurality of panels can be foldably connected to the central panel, and at least one panel can be foldably connected to the central panel along the opening. A bottom wall can comprise at least first and second bottom panels foldably connected to respective panels. The second bottom panel at least partially overlaps the first bottom panel so that the second bottom panel extends along the inner surface of the base layer, and the first bottom panel extends along the inner surface of the base layer at least via a cutout in the second bottom panel.
Packaging for modified atmosphere packaging and method
A packaging for modified atmosphere packaging includes a flangeless cardboard tray having a bottom and an upstanding peripheral wall. A plastic flange is arranged on top of the edge of the peripheral wall. The plastic flange has in cross-section a first part extending horizontally, substantially parallel to the bottom of the tray, a second part depending from the first part downward along the outside of the peripheral wall and a third part depending from the first part, opposite of the second part, along the inside of the peripheral wall. A plastic barrier foil is adhered to and lines the inside of the cardboard tray and extends over the plastic flange to fix the plastic flange onto the flangeless cardboard tray.
Packaging system comprising a cardboard structure
A packaging system comprising a trough and a packaging element separate therefrom for closing the trough, the packaging trough having an outer cardboard structure folded or formed from corrugated board with an insert of a single or multiple layer plastic film, the inner side of each side wall of the cardboard structure being connected by material means to the insert only in its upper part of the side wall, the insert forming a substantially identically shaped, but loose contact surface with the lower part of the inner side of each side wall down to the base of the packaging trough and the trough having at least one gas venting opening.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PACKAGING HAVING A CIRCUMFERENTIAL EDGE FLANGE AND A BARRIER FILM
A method for producing packaging comprises providing the shell part that defines an opening, a cavity at least partially formed by a bottom wall and side walls, and a continuously circumferential lower contact surface at a constant height around the opening of the cavity and providing a collar including the circumferential edge flange. At least one bottom tool is structured to comprise aa lower contact surface and a cavity configured to receive the shell part. At least one top tool is structured to comprise an upper contact surface. The shell part is inserted into the cavity of the at least one bottom tool and the collar is placed on the lower contact surface. A barrier film is placed over the edge flange and pressed to form a tray that is filled with goods. A sealing film is then pressed against the barrier film to seal the goods within the tray.
Clamshell packaging for airtight packaging of foodstuff
A clamshell packaging for airtight packaging of foodstuff includes a tray folded out of a single sheet. The tray has at least two adjacent pool parts, each pool part having a bottom wall and upstanding walls arranged around the circumferential edge of the bottom wall. The adjacent pool parts are hingedly connected to each other along an upper edge of a respective upstanding wall, so the adjacent pool parts can be hinged on top of each other to form a closed box. A circumferential, horizontal flange is arranged to the tray to at least some upper edges of the upstanding walls. A plastic barrier foil is arranged in the pool parts and extends onto and substantially covers the flange. The flange includes a seal zone extending along the length of the flange.
