Method for Top Sealing a Cardboard Tray Lined with a Plastic Foil and Cardboard Tray Therefor
The invention relates to a method for top sealing a cardboard tray lined with a plastic foil. The method includes the steps of providing a cardboard tray having a bottom, upstanding walls arranged along the periphery of the bottom and a horizontal flange arranged along the upper edges of the upstanding walls, wherein the inside of the cardboard tray is lined with a plast foil, which plastic foil extends at least onto the horizontal flange; arranging the cardboard tray in a lower sealing tool member having a compressible support edge, wherein at least the horizontal flange is supported by the compressible support edge of the lower sealing tool member; arranging a cover foil over the cardboard tray arranged in the lower sealing tool member to cover the opening of the tray defined by the upper edges of the upstanding walls; and pressing a heated upper sealing tool member onto the lower sealing tool member, wherein the cover foil, the plastic foil liner and the horizontal flange are pressed together to seal the cover foil onto the plastic foil liner along the horizontal flange. The overlapping area of the plastic foil liner, the cover foil, and the compressible support edge extends at least partially outside of the area of the horizontal flange.
Paper container top flange
A plurality of camming surfaces (116) are actuated to move against the top portion of the side walls (38) of a container (36) to turn such top portion in an outward direction relative to the interior of the container sufficiently to enable the seal profile (90) of the top tool assembly (30) of a sealing apparatus (22) to press the outwardly disposed side wall top portions downwardly against an abutment formed by a bottom tool assembly (32) so as to create a horizontal, outwardly disposed sealing flange (40) to which a top film (34) is applied for closure of the container.
CARTON LIDDING AND STACKING APPARATUS AND PROCESS
A process of manipulating a closable carton with lid panels extending from walls of the carton and tabs received in slots formed in the lid panels to secure the lid panels to close the carton. The process has a step of moving a folding element transverse to each wall from which a lid extends to move the one or more lids into a position which closes the carton. The process has a step of lifting the closed carton past a non-return support and into engagement with another carton to provide a stack of closed cartons supported by the non-return support. The process has a step of the support then releasing a stack of closed cartons to a conveyor.
System and method for automatically closing boxes with cardboard lids
A method for automatically closing an open packaging box with a cardboard lid, said box comprising a polygonal bottom panel defined by three or more bottom panel edges and sidewalls joined over respective crease lines to said bottom panel edges, each sidewall forming a substantially right angle with the bottom panel, said lid comprising a polygonal top panel defined by three or more top panel edges and corresponding to the bottom panel of the box to be closed and flaps joined over respective crease lines to said top panel edges and adapted for being folded onto a corresponding one of said sidewalls, the method comprising a step of folding each flap along the respective crease line partially towards a position, in which the flap forms a substantially right angle with said top panel and placing the lid above said box such that the top panel and the bottom panel are substantially aligned and such that, seen onto each sidewall, each flap overlaps one of the sidewalls, a step of releasing the lid allowing it to be guided by the partially folded flaps into a position on the box, in which the top panel and the bottom panel are aligned, and a step of folding each flap onto the respective sidewall fully into said position, in which the flap forms a substantially right angle with the top panel.
CORRUGATED CARDBOARD BOX MAKING DEVICE, BOX MAKING METHOD, AND BOX MAKING AND PROCESSING METHOD
A cardboard box production device includes: a stocker that holds a plurality of vertically stacked folded original boxes in a cardboard box having the top and bottom thereof open; a expansion provided upstream in a conveyance direction that is substantially orthogonal to the stacking direction of the original boxes, moving one side surface of an original box away from a first side on the stocker side towards a second side, and expanding the one side surface such that openings are formed at the top and bottom; a folding-in device that folds in the bottom of an open box opened upstream in the conveyance direction; a feeding device that feeds boxes from the upstream side in the conveyance direction to the downstream side; a conveyance belt; and an adhesion device that applies an adhesive tape to the bottom of the box in the conveyance area of the conveyance belt.
Carton with removable lid
A carton with a removable lid, the carton may include a floor panel; a plurality of side panels extending about a periphery of the bottom panel. The one or more of the side panels may include one or more tabs extending from an upper edge thereof. The carton may further include foldable corner gussets extending between adjacent side panels. The bottom panel, side panels, and foldable corner gussets may be configurable to form a compartment region; and a removable lid. The removable lid may include a lid panel and one or more slots formed in the lid panel, wherein the lid panel may be configured to cover the compartment region, and wherein the one or more slots may be sized, shaped, and positioned such that when the removable lid is installed atop the compartment region, the one or more tabs align with the one or more slots and are received therethrough.
Paper-based composite container for off-gassing products, and method for making same
A substantially paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal so as to establish fluid communication between an interior of the composite container and the environment outside the composite container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.
