A conversion unit converting a first continuous web substrate into a second substrate in the form of converted blanks of predetermined length. On account of cutting tool rotation speed, the web moves at various speeds for cutting the web cut lengths and other aspects of cutting and transport process having a constant input speed. The unit includes a first motorized arrangement for producing a first run driving of the web, a sheeter having rotary tools for cutting the web into blanks, a second motorized arrangement for producing a second run driving of the substrate, the second arrangement being positioned in the immediate proximity of the sheeter, and at least one station having rotary tools for converting the blanks. A speed of rotation of the second arrangement varies during a cycle of rotation of the tools of the sheeter, comprising a phase at constant tangential speed, substantially equal to the speed of rotation of the tools of the sheeter, during which the cut is made, a speed reduction phase, during which a length of the web, dependent on the difference between the length of the blank and an extension of the periphery of the tools, is kept upstream of the second arrangement, and a speed increase phase, during which the substrate is discharged downstream of the second arrangement.

UPWARDS JETTING DIGITAL PRINTING PLATFORM
20230008164 · 2023-01-12 ·

A printing platform includes a printing engine with one or more printheads arranged such that the ink drops are jetted vertically upwards against the action of gravity; and a substrate transportation system where the normal to the surface in contact with the substrate is parallel and with opposite direction to the travelling direction of the jetted ink drops. It is necessary to counteract the weight of the substrate during the printing process to avoid it from falling under the action of gravity. This is achieved through any of a mechanical element that interferes with the falling of the substrate and that keeps it in place; or a system that generates adhesion forces between the element that transmits the motion to the substrate, typically a conveyor belt, and the substrate through the action of electrostatic forces, an air pressure differential between both faces of the substrate, or any other suitable mechanism.

LIDLESS CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING THE CONTAINER

The container for product has a bottom wall and a lateral wall of tubular extension up to an annular and surrounding an opening for access to the inner volume. The container is of the type without cover or part that can be lost, including two distinct protrusions, projecting from the lateral wall in order to get a closed configuration, wherein the two protrusions are simultaneously: projecting opposite the bottom wall, from the annular end; and sealed to each other so as to form a sealing zone in order to hermetically close the opening. The container has two gripping portions, offset and distributed on the two protrusions and arranged outside of the sealing zone, which makes it quick to open. The container is recyclable, formed for example based on laminated paper or cardboard.

A converting assembly performs a plurality of conversion functions on sheet material to convert the sheet material into packaging templates. The converting assembly includes a plurality of tool rollers. Each of the tool rollers has one or more conversion tools thereon. The one or more conversion tools on an individual tool roller are configured to perform a subset of the plurality of conversion functions that convert the sheet material into packaging templates.

Adjustable cutting and creasing heads for creating angled cuts and creases

A converting machine is used to convert sheet material into packaging templates for assembly into boxes or other packaging. The converting machine includes a converting assembly that performs a transverse conversion function, a longitudinal conversion function, and an angled conversion function on the sheet material to create the packaging templates. The converting machine includes a tool head with a converting instrument. The orientation of the converting instrument is adjustable to enable performance of the angled conversion function and at least one of the longitudinal conversion function and the transverse conversion function.

Waste determination for generating control plans for digital pre-print paper, sheet, and box manufacturing systems

Systems for providing efficient manufacturing of paper, sheet, and/or box products of varying size and structure, often with pre-applied print (“pre-print”), are provided herein. One or more controllers can be used to aggregate upcoming orders and information needed to complete the manufacturing process for the order. A controller enables a user to prepare control plans (e.g., reel maps, reel plans, etc.) for processing rolls of web product through the manufacturing process. Criteria filtering and/or various features enable generation of efficient and effective control plans for rolls of web product, including, in some cases, multiple orders. The control plan may include a set of instructions for operating one or more systems within the manufacturing process to form the desired finished paper-based product. In such a regard, efficient manufacturing of various paper-based products, including corrugated boxes, folded carton, labels, flexible paper, industrial bags, plates, cups, décor, and many others, can be achieved.

Method and system for forming packages

A method of forming reinforced packages. The method can comprise moving a blank in a machine direction on a blank conveyor, and forming a tubular web while moving a first web of material and a second web of material in the machine direction. The forming the tubular web can comprise at least partially sealing at least a portion of the first web and the second web together to form a sealed margin of the tubular web. The method further can comprise forming a liner by cutting the tubular web, forming an attached blank by attaching the liner to the blank, and moving the attached blank in the machine direction on the blank conveyor.

Controls for paper, sheet, and box manufacturing systems

Systems for providing efficient manufacturing of sheet or box structures, corrugate sheets, or other products of varying size and structure often with pre-applied print (“pre-print”) are provided herein. The systems include various features and modules that enable automated control of the corrugator, including the knives, slitters, scorers and cut-to-mark detection system(s), are contemplated. Colored markings may be used to indicate an order change section between two order sections of a roll plan for the manufacturing process. The colored markings are detected as the corrugator runs and, once detected, a controller determines a next set of order instructions—e.g., to match the upcoming order. Thus, an order change may occur, thereby enabling automated control of the corrugator based on the new order instructions. Computer readable markings may enable checking of the actual position in the roll plan to an intended position, enabling stopping or changing of the corrugator operation if needed.
