HYBRID UNIDIRECTIONAL AND BRAIDED COMPOSITE LAMINATES, AND RELATED METHODS
At least one braided composite layer configured to form a first ply may be provided. A plurality of slit tapes may be arranged and aligned such that each slit tape is adjacent to one another and non-overlapping, to form a second ply. A hybrid composite laminate may be formed by stacking a plurality of plies that includes at least one first ply and at least one second ply. Each slit tape may be a steered unidirectional composite slit tape that is aligned along an axis, contour line, or curve of the hybrid composite laminate, a mold/tooling used to shape the laminate, or the resulting composite part. Hybrid composite laminates may be formed by stacking at least one first ply formed of a braided composite layer and at least one second ply formed from a plurality of slit tapes. Composite parts may be formed by consolidating such hybrid composite laminates.
MULTI-LAYER BRAIDED ARTICLE
A multi-layer braided article and a method of making the multi-layer braided article. The multi-layer braided article includes a braid extending along a first axis, wherein the braid is folded over itself to form a first layer and a second layer; and a wrapper laid over the first layer of the braid and extending circumferentially around the first axis, wherein the wrapper defines an edge of the first layer about which the braid is folded. The multi-layer braided article may form part of a blade for an aircraft. A sleeve may be provided around a conical portion of the article to connect the article to something else, such as a propeller hub, where the multi-layer braided article is formed as part of a blade. The sleeve may provide a primary or secondary load path.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL PART HAVING A CELLULAR STRUCTURE AND CORRESPONDING PART
A method for manufacturing a composite material part having a cellular structure that includes at least one cell delimited by walls. The method includes supplying at least a first core, providing a web of a first fibrous reinforcement comprising a plurality of long discontinuous fibers randomly distributed in a plane, and producing at least one strip of the first fibrous reinforcement. The method further includes producing a second fibrous reinforcement in the shape of a sock, inserting the first core into the sock, draping the strip around the sock containing the first core, placing the sock containing the first core and the wrapped strip in a mold, and thermocompression.
Method and apparatus for forming a composite fuselage structure
A method and apparatus for forming a composite structure. A stackup comprising a plurality of overbraided thermoplastic members and an overbraided thermoplastic skin is built. The stackup is placed between an inner tooling and an outer tooling. The inner tooling, the stackup, and the outer tooling are held in place together using a load constraint. The inner tooling, the stackup, the outer tooling, and the load constraint form a consolidation setup. The consolidation setup is heated to form the composite structure.
Cushioned bath mat
The invention pertains to a cushioned mat, in particular bath mat, including a non-slip base material, a cushion layer secured to the non-slip base material, a surface layer arrangement secured to a surface of the cushion layer opposite to the non-slip base material. The surface layer arrangement includes a textile material layer and a flexible cable including a cushioned core and an outer sleeve formed form textile material, the flexible cable being braided with or tufted to the textile material layer. In embodiments the flexible cable is braided or woven to form ornamental patterns.

MULTI-LAYER EXHAUST INSULATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
An exhaust insulation system and associate methods are described that include multiple layers. In one example, a system includes a base insulation layer, a polyimide layer at least partially surrounding the base insulation layer, and an outer fabric layer, wherein the fabric is impregnated with a resin.
HYDRAULIC HOSE
A hydraulic hose includes: an innermost layer tube encircling at least one channel. The innermost layer tube has a self-sealing material composition including an elastomeric material and a polyalkyleneimine. In an embodiment, the polyalkyleneimine is selected from polyethyleneimine, polypropyleneimine, polybutyleneimine, and polypentyleneimine. In an embodiment, the polyalkyleneimine is linear or branched.
