A process for applying an anti-fragmentation system to manufactured articles made of natural stone or ceramic, and a respective manufactured article equipped with such an anti-fragmentation system, which is provided with at least one retaining member having an adhesive surface, and a manufactured article in the form of a slab and having a first, visible surface with a respective ornamental appearance, and a second, non-visible surface opposite to said first surface; the retaining member is associated with the manufactured article by joining the adhesive surface to said second surface.

A grid and skin assembly for use in a composite laminate structure is described. The assembly includes a metallic grid having a plurality of intersecting ribs oriented in at least two distinct rib directions offset at a grid angle relative to one another and defining respective intersection points; and a composite laminate skin having a plurality of ply layers comprising a plurality of tapes oriented in at least two distinct tape directions offset at a ply angle relative to one another. The grid angle is at least 25 degrees, the intersection points define glueless joints of the metallic grid, and the grid is a non-aluminum-based material. A grid and method of manufacturing the grid and skin assembly is also described. The method includes a water jet cutting procedure and glueless joint formation due to differing thermal expansion characteristics of the grid and skin.

A low-weight carpet or carpet tile and process for making the same, wherein the carpet or carpet tile comprises a facecloth having a plurality of face yarns tufted through a primary backing, a low-viscosity polyolefin coating layer applied to the primary backing, a reinforcing scrim layer, and an extruded polyolefin sheet. The top surface and bottom surface of the carpet tile are defined by the facecloth and either the extruded polyolefin sheet or the reinforcing scrim layer, respectively. The entire multi-layer web is then passed through a nip to compress the layers together, and the entire web is chilled before optionally being cut into tiles.

A translucent or transparent composite flexible sheet includes at least one reinforcing layer comprising high tenacity yarns; and a fluorinated polymeric film which is translucent or transparent to visible light, which is integral with the reinforcing layer.
