The invention relates to a food packaging unit (20) comprising a food container (1) for receiving a liquid, pasty or free-flowing food. The injection-moulded, single-component, cup-shaped base body (2) of the food container surrounds, with a wall (5), a bottom (6) and an outwardly projecting collar (7), an opening (4) which is closed by a food-container-covering film (10) applied to the collar (7). The food container (1) is injection-moulded in a single layer from a polymer blend comprising two components, a first component of which being PVOH or a PVOH copolymer. The food-container-covering film (10), which can be applied to the plastic food container (1) in order to close the opening (4) by sealing, welding or adhesion, comprises a cellulose-containing layer which is coated with PVOH, or a PVOH polymer blend layer.

Partially coated films and packages formed from same

The present invention provides coated films and packages formed from such films. In one aspect, a partially coated film comprises (a) a film having two outer surfaces, wherein a first outer surface is provided by a film layer that comprises from 70 to 100 percent by weight of a polyolefin having a density of 0.860 to 0.965 g/cm.sup.3; and (b) a coating on the first outer surface of the film comprising polyurethane, wherein the coating covers less than 25% of the surface area of the first outer surface of the film and wherein the coated portion of the film exhibits an Elmendorf tear in at least one of the machine direction or cross direction that is at least 20% less than the Elmendorf tear of the uncoated portion in the same direction, with the Elmendorf tear being measured in accordance with ASTM D1922.

The present disclosure relates to multi-layer film constructions and methods of manufacturing and using the same. The multi-layer film constructions can include a first layer joined to a second layer. The first layer can include one or more abuse resistant materials. The second layer can include a sealant film, which can be a multi-layer film having one or more sealing layers or sublayers. The second layer can also include one or more barrier layers. The multi-layer film constructions can also include score regions, which can be imparted by a laser or other mechanical implement.

Heat sealable films

In an embodiment, a heat-seal film includes 10-90 wt % of a first polymer component and 10-90 wt % of a second polymer component, based on a total weight of the first polymer component and the second polymer component, wherein: the first polymer component includes propylene, and optionally, up to 18 wt % of a C.sub.2 and/or a C.sub.4-C.sub.20 α-olefin based on a total weight of the first polymer component; and the second polymer component includes 91-99.9 wt % of propylene and 0.1-9 wt % of ethylene based on a total weight of the second polymer component, the second copolymer component having a melt flow rate of 2-60 g/10 min. In another embodiment, a multi-layer film structure includes a heat-seal layer including a heat-seal film described herein; and an unoriented, an uniaxially oriented, or a biaxially oriented base layer including polypropylene homopolymer, a polypropylene random copolymer, or a combination thereof.

At least a first surface of the film comprises a patterned, textured surface formed by repeating protruding regions and at least one non-protruding region arranged between said protruding regions.
