A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.
FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME, AND FIBER-REINFORCED RESIN ARTICLE
A fiber-reinforced resin material includes: a first fiber-reinforced resin layer; a second fiber-reinforced resin layer having higher ductility and lower elasticity than those of the first fiber-reinforced resin layer; and a third fiber-reinforced resin layer having higher ductility and lower elasticity than those of the second fiber-reinforced resin layer. The first layer, the second layer, and the third layer are laminated and integrated in this order is made of the fiber-reinforced resin material. The manufacturing method includes: stacking a sheet-shaped product obtained by forming continuous fibers into a sheet shape and a resin sheet that serves as a first thermoplastic resin, a second thermoplastic resin, or a third thermoplastic resin so as to obtain a laminated structure in which the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer are laminated in this order; and heating and compressing the obtained stacked product in a stacking direction.
Shrink film
Oriented, multilayer shrink films, either clear or opaque, comprise a core layer and at least one skin layer. The core layer has a thickness greater than the thickness of the at least one skin layer. The at least one skin layer comprises at least one cyclic-olefin copolymer as the predominant component thereof. The core layer comprises a blend of a polyolefin polymer and a polybutene-1 copolymer with ethylene, the butene-1 constituting over 75% by weight of the polybutene-1 copolymer. The film has a shrinkage of at least 20% in at least one of the machine and transverse directions of formation when said film is heated to a temperature of between 80 and 100° C. Optionally the films can include a propylene-based elastomer, a styrenic based block copolymer elastomer, reclaim including the components of the film, or combinations thereof.
Medical protective clothing materials
Protective clothing materials and related methods and garments are provided. In some embodiments, a protective clothing material may comprise a fibrous layer that serves as a barrier to certain fluids (e.g., bodily fluids, water) and microbes. The impermeability of the fibrous layer may be due, at least in part, to the structural uniformity and/or relatively small pore size of the fibrous layer. In some embodiments, the fibrous layer may have a relatively high air permeability that imparts beneficial properties (e.g., relatively high air flow, breathability) to the protective clothing material without adversely affecting its protection rating. In certain embodiments, the protective clothing material may also comprise one or more coarse nonwoven webs that impart beneficial properties (e.g., splash resistance) to the protective clothing material. The protective clothing materials, described herein, may be particularly useful for a wide variety of applications, including the formation of AAMI level 4 protective garments.
MICROLAYER MEMBRANES, IMPROVED BATTERY SEPARATORS, AND RELATED METHODS
Described herein is a multilayer microporous film or membrane that may exhibit improved properties, including improved dielectric break down and strength, compared to prior monolayer or tri-layer microporous membranes of the same thickness. The preferred multilayer microporous membrane comprises microlayers and one or more lamination barriers. Also disclosed is a battery separator or battery comprising one or more of the multilayer microporous films or membranes. The inventive battery and battery separator is preferably safer and more robust than batteries and battery separators using prior monolayer and tri-layer microporous membranes. Also, described herein is a method for making the multilayer microporous separators, membranes or films described herein.
Plastic Films
The invention relates to plastic films and a silicone containing polymer blend composition that can be used in the production of the plastic films which is a polymer composition obtainable from, per 100 parts by weight of the composition, 99.99 to 90 parts by weight of a polyolefin polymer (P) and 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a masterbatch (M).
