Vehicular rearview mirror assembly
A vehicular rearview mirror assembly includes an electrochromic reflective element having front and rear glass substrates with an electrochromic medium disposed therebetween. The front glass substrate includes a specularly reflective perimeter layer at least partially around a perimeter border region of the rear side of the front glass substrate. At least one light source is disposed behind the perimeter layer. With the vehicular rearview mirror assembly mounted at the vehicle and when the at least one light source is electrically powered, the at least one light source emits light that passes through the perimeter border region of the second side of the front glass substrate and that is visible to a viewer viewing the first side of the front glass substrate of the electrochromic reflective element at the perimeter layer.
Tungsten oxide nanostructure thin films for electrochromic devices
A method of manufacturing a thin film is provided. The method includes providing a plurality of crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide particles, size-reducing the crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide particles by grinding to produce crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanostructures, and coating the crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanostructures onto a substrate to produce a thin film. An electrochromic multi-layer stack is also provided.
Visible quality additive manufactured aluminum mirror finishing
A mirrored apparatus includes a substrate having a surface and including an additive manufactured aluminum and about 2 to about 30 weight % (wt. %) silicon. The mirrored apparatus also includes a finish layer arranged directly on the surface of the substrate. The finish layer includes a polished surface opposite the substrate. The mirrored apparatus further includes a reflective layer arranged on the polished surface of the finish layer.
ENCAPSULATED MICROMIRRORS FOR LIGHT REDIRECTION
A transparent polymer film for light redirection includes a carrier layer and a structured layer in optical contact with each other. The structured layer has a multitude of curved metallic micromirrors, which are parallel to each other and encapsulated in a transparent material and separated by a periodicity distance (p) of 10 to 1000 micrometer parallel to the film surface. 50% or more of the micromirrors’ surfaces have a cross section, perpendicular to the film surface, in the form of elliptic arcs, whose radii are from the range 5 p to 25 p, and the micromirrors are arranged in a depth (d) perpendicular to the film surface from the range 1.6 p to 3.0 p, especially 2 p to 2.5 p. Glazings can be equipped with the film.
Mirror with increased form stability and longevity and a method of fabricating the same
A mirror includes a carrier, a reflecting layer disposed above a main face of the carrier, and a transparent layer disposed above the reflective layer. The carrier includes a base body, and the base body includes one or more of a material comprising a density in a range from 0.1 to 1.0 g/cm.sup.3, a porous material, a foamed material, a material comprising a structure containing closed cells, a material comprising a honeycomb structure, or a structure containing carbon fibers.
MULTILAYER FILM
A multilayer film includes pluralities of first layers and polymeric second layers arranged along a thickness direction of the multilayer film. The first and second layers having different compositions. At least one layer of the multilayer film includes at least one polymer and metal oxide nanoparticles dispersed in the at least one polymer. The at least one polymer includes a first polymer including (meth)acrylic acid monomer units. The metal oxide nanoparticles are surface modified with a carboxylic acid silane surface modifying agent.
MULTILAYER STRUCTURE
A multilayer structure includes a resin layer, and a glass layer laminated on the resin layer via an adhesive layer, wherein a thickness of the glass layer is 10 μm or more and 300 μm or less, and an arithmetic mean waviness Wa of an interface of the resin layer and the adhesive layer is 10 μm or less.
Space optics
An optical mirror assembly includes a crystalline face sheet and a carbon fiber sandwich. The crystalline face sheet has a first surface configured to reflect light and a second surface coupled to the carbon fiber sandwich by a layer of epoxy. The carbon fiber sandwich is configured to structurally support the crystalline face sheet. The carbon fiber sandwich includes a first carbon fiber layer, a second carbon fiber layer and a substrate positioned between the first carbon fiber layer and the second carbon fiber layer.
NANOFIBER ASSEMBLIES WITH MULTIPLE ELECTROCHROMIC STATES
Composite assemblies are described that can be switched from a transparent state to a non transparent state, and in some examples even switched between different colors/reflectivities in the non transparent state. Switching between these states can be initiated by application of an electrical current to Ag carbon nanotube yarns in contact with an electrochromic electrolyte. The carbon nanotube yarns increase the efficiency with which electrons are provided to an electrolyte.
SUBSTRATE HOLDING BOARD, MANUFACTURING METHOD OF DEVICE, AND EXPOSURE DEVICE
A substrate holding board includes a first layer and a second layer forming an interfacial surface with the first layer. The first layer and the second layer contain diamond-like carbon. A refractive index of the first layer in a wavelength is higher than a refractive index of the second layer in the wavelength. A distance from the second layer to a topmost surface of the substrate holding board is smaller than a thickness of the first layer.
