Gas Collection Device of Printing Press
A gas collection device of a printing press includes an organic compound treatment system (33) including a gas chamber (34). The device includes a cover (3) configured to cover a print unit (2) of a printing press. The device includes a gas transfer device (4) configured to suck a gas of a volatile organic compound produced in the print unit (2) from the inside of the cover 3 and transfer the gas to the gas chamber (34). It is possible to provide a gas collection device of a printing press, which can prevent a work environment in which the printing press is installed from being deteriorated by the gas of the volatile organic compound.
Printing blanket with non-extensible backing mountable in a single reel rod lock-up
Printing blankets having non-extensible backing plies such as, for example, metalback blankets, are provided which have a construction that is adapted to be mountable onto blanket cylinders having a gap containing a conventional single reel rod lock-up mechanism. The blankets include first and second relief areas positioned such that when the blankets are mounted onto a blanket cylinder, the relief areas substantially align with the point at which the lead and trail ends of the blankets are inserted into a gap in the blanket cylinder to secure the ends in the lock-up mechanism.

MANDREL FOR PRINTING APPARATUS, PRINTING CYLINDER AND PRINTING APPARATUS
A mandrel for use in a printing apparatus includes a substantially cylindrical mandrel shaft and plastic expansion rings that are slidably and coaxially mounted on the mandrel shaft. The mandrel also includes a locking assembly including a fixed stop ring and a single locking ring that is axially movably mounted on the mandrel shaft. The expansion rings are positioned between the stop ring and the locking ring. In the unlocked position of the locking ring the expansion rings are in a released state in which the axial compression and the radial expansion of the expansion rings are smaller than in a locked position of the locking ring. A printing cylinder sleeve can be fixedly connected to the mandrel by bringing the expansion rings in the radially expanded state. When the printing cylinder sleeve has to be exchanged, this is feasible when the expansion rings are in the released state.
PRINTING PLATE CONNECTION SYSTEMS
Techniques are disclosed for connecting a printing plate to a print cylinder or surface. The techniques may be implemented, for instance, with respect to a printing plate, a print cylinder, a print sleeve, or some combination thereof. In an embodiment, a field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a printing plate, and a complementary field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a print sleeve or cylinder. The mechanical fasteners collectively operate to provide a mechanical bond or interface that inhibits lateral and rotational movement of the plate during printing operations, and can also be configured to manage backlash between engaging surfaces of the interface. In some cases, backlash management includes use of cushion effect integral with the mechanical bond itself and/or unidirectional and possibly angled fastener elements to provide a snugging effect. The mechanical bond may be implemented with hook-and-loop, hook-and-hook, hook-to-channel, male/female-type fittings, vacuum, suction, and/or magnetics.

BLANKET OR SLAB FOR OVERPRINT VARNISHING
A blanket or slab for overprint varnishing at least including a varnishing layer and a single-layer or multilayer support of uniform thickness. The varnishing layer can be made of a non-cross-linked elastomeric thermoplastic polymer, and have non-image areas where no transfer of varnish takes place. The non-image areas can be areas of the varnishing layer that lack material and extend from the outer surface of the varnishing layer to a depth which is no less than half the thickness of the varnishing layer. At least one non-image area can delineate a geometric shape having an area of less than 5 mm.sup.2. The varnishing layer having non-image areas can be a physical reproduction of a digital model obtained with additive technology.
OFFSET PRINT APPARATUS AND METHODS
Offset print apparatus comprises: a blanket to receive print agent; a non-contact temperature sensor to monitor electromagnetic radiation from a measurement location of the blanket and generate a respective output; and a controller to: receive the output from the non-contact temperature sensor; determine coverage information relating to a print agent coverage of the blanket at the measurement location; and calculate a temperature of the blanket at the measurement location taking into account both the output from the non-contact temperature sensor and the determined coverage information.

Apparatus for actuating a hydraulic carrier rod of a rotary printing machine
The invention is about a convenient way of fixing a sleeve over a mandrel in a press. The sleeve is attached by applying a hydraulic pressure into the mandrel which deforms itself and grips on the sleeve. The pressure is brought by a piston mounted on a screw inside the mandrel, which when tightened increases the pressure and grips the sleeve.
