Metering roller for an ink station assembly of a decorator and a method of decorating a container with the decorator
An apparatus and methods of decorating exterior surfaces of metallic containers are provided. More specifically, the present disclosure provides a novel metering roller for an inking assembly of a decorator. An adjustment mechanism is operable to move the metering roller to a first ink transfer position during a decoration run. In the first ink transfer position, the metering roller receives ink from an ink roller without contacting the ink roller. In one embodiment, during the production run, the metering roller is in contact with and transfers ink to a transfer roller. When the decoration run stops, the adjustment mechanism can move the metering roller to a second dwell position such that the metering roller does not receive ink from the ink roller.
ROTARY MACHINE WITH IMPROVED SHAFT
A rotary machine is disclosed, which includes a rotary shaft having a rotation axis, a first shaft end, and a second shaft end; a first bearing arrangement at the first shaft end; a second bearing arrangement at the second shaft end; a coupling flange mechanically connected to the first shaft end. The coupling flange is mechanically connected to the first shaft end by means of a first axial-contact coupling.

Liquid transfer apparatus
A liquid transfer apparatus includes: rollers configured to transfer supplied liquid to a blanket cylinder; a roller holding device configured to detachably hold the rollers and perform a rotating operation to move any one of the rollers to a predetermined position facing the blanket cylinder; and a contact-separation unit configured to bring the roller held by the roller holding device and disposed at the predetermined position into and out of contact with the blanket cylinder.
Converting machine with height adjustment
A flexographic printing unit (17) for a converting machine (10). The flexographic printing unit comprises a flexographic printing assembly (28) including a printing cylinder (30), an anilox cylinder, a counter cylinder (32) and a doctor blade chamber (36). The printing cylinder being arranged vertically above the counter cylinder and configured to print on a top side (S1) of a sheet (1). The flexographic printing unit comprises a fixed frame portion (102) and a movable frame portion (104), and the printing cylinder, anilox cylinder and the doctor blade chamber are attached to the movable frame portion and the counter cylinder is attached to the fixed frame portion. The movable frame portion being vertically movable between an operating position where the printing cylinder is positioned against the counter cylinder and a service position where the printing cylinder is further distanced from the counter cylinder.

Printing apparatus
An ink supply unit is a unitized member having a casing accommodating components therein. A plurality of plate cylinders are arranged in a circumferential direction at predetermined intervals. The ink supply unit corresponding to the plate cylinder is disposed on a radially outer side of the plate cylinder. The ink supply unit can move between an operation position in which ink can be supplied to the plate cylinder and a standby position located further to a radially outer side than the operation position.
Variable data lithography system for applying multi-component images and systems therefor
A reimageable layer of an imaging member is provided with a dampening fluid layer. The reimageable layer has specific properties such as composition, surface profile, and so on so as to be well suited for receipt and carrying the dampening fluid layer. An optical patterning subsystem such as a scanned modulated laser patterns the dampening fluid layer. Ink having a first set of properties such as color, composition, etc., is applied at an inking subsystem such that it selectively resides in voids formed by the patterning subsystem in the dampening fluid layer to thereby form an inked latent image. The inked latent image is then transferred to a substrate, and the reimageable surface cleaned. The process is repeated for a second ink having properties different than the first. Each ink image may successively be applied to the substrate, or a composite image may be formed then applied to the substrate.
