MEDIUM HOLDING DEVICE
The disclosure optimizes suction force. An inkjet printing apparatus (1) includes a suction table (2) having a placement surface (21a) for the medium (M); a blower (52) that generates a suction force on the placement surface (21a); and a control device (55) that controls a suction force generated by the blower (52). The control device (55) includes a switcher (553) that switches the suction force to generate, where when the medium (M) is placed on the placement surface (21a), the switcher (553) drives the blower (52) at a first output level to generate a first suction force, and suctions the medium (M) placed on the placement surface (21a). Thereafter, the blower (52) is driven at the second output level lower than the first output level to generate the second suction force weaker than the first suction force, thereby suctioning the medium M placed on the placement surface (21a).

Sheet supplying apparatus and printing apparatus
A sheet supplying apparatus, which is capable of winding a sheet tightly, includes a driving unit configured to cause a roll including a wound consecutive sheet to rotate in a first direction for feeding the sheet or a second direction opposite to the first direction, a sensor that detects a leading end portion of the sheet separated from an outer circumferential surface of the roll, and a contact body that presses the outer circumferential surface. Before the sheet is fed, in a state in which the contact body presses the outer circumferential surface, the driving unit causes the roll to continuously rotate in the second direction until a detection cycle of the leading end portion by the sensor is less than a predetermined value.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRINTING COLOR IMAGES ON SUBSTRATES IN AN INKJET PRINTER
A color inkjet printer includes an electrode that emits an electric field into a gap between a printhead and a media transport that carries media past the printhead. Image data generated by an optical sensor after an ink image is printed on the media is analyzed to measure at least one image quality metric. When the measured image quality metric is outside of a tolerance range, the voltage of a voltage source electrically connected to the electrode is adjusted to improve the wetting of the media type with the ink ejected by the printhead.
Retractable printable medium support
A printable medium support for a printer comprises a support element to support a printable medium, wherein the support element is movable between a protruding configuration to support the printable medium, and a retracted configuration in which the support element is at least partially retracted in a first direction. The printable medium support comprises an actuating element to move the support element between the protruding configuration and the retracted configuration.

PRINT APPARATUS AND METHODS
Print apparatus comprises: a platen to support a print substrate; a print head to apply print agent to a print substrate supported by the platen, the print head being movable relative to the platen to vary a distance therebetween; and a suction device having an inlet, the suction device to draw air from between the print head and the platen and into the inlet. The inlet of the suction device is movable with the print head to vary a clearance between the inlet and the platen.
