An image forming method includes applying a processing fluid to a recording medium, applying an ink to the recording medium onto which the processing fluid has been applied, and heating the recording medium onto which the ink has been applied, wherein the ink comprises a black ink and at least one color ink other than the black ink, wherein the following relationship is satisfied: |(k)-(c)|5 mN/m, where (k) represents a dynamic surface tension of the black ink at a surface lifetime of 15 ms and (c) represents a dynamic surface tension of the at least one color ink at a surface lifetime of 15 ms, wherein the ink discharged from an extreme downstream nozzle in a direction of recording medium conveyance is heated at 1.5 seconds or less after the ink is attached to the recording medium.

A recording apparatus includes a recording head that includes a nozzle row which is provided with a plurality of nozzles discharging liquid to a medium along a transporting direction, and executes recording as one pass by discharging the liquid from the nozzles in accordance with movement in a scanning direction intersecting the transporting direction, a transporting unit that transports the medium to a position facing the nozzle row, and a controller that is capable of acquiring information relating to a length of the medium in the transporting direction and controls the recording head and the transporting unit, in which the controller determines the nozzle being used for a recording operation as one pass in the beginning in accordance with the acquired length of the medium, and executes a heading operation for feeding the medium to a position facing the determined nozzle.

An image forming apparatus includes: a feed tray accommodating a roll body, a first sheet-shaped medium being rolled in a roll shape as the roll body; and a feed roller configured to apply a conveying force to the first sheet-shaped medium unrolled from the roll body and to feed the first sheet-shaped medium from the feed tray. The feed tray includes: a first accommodation portion accommodating the roll body; a second accommodation portion accommodating a plurality of second sheet-shaped media stacked in a first direction; and a path member located between the first accommodation portion and the feed roller. The path member includes a partition member partitioning the second sheet-shaped medium accommodated in the second accommodation portion and the first sheet-shaped medium unrolled from the roll body in the first direction.
