Maintenance system using foaming cleaning bath
A printhead maintenance system includes: an inkjet printhead; a carriage movable longitudinally along the printhead in a cleaning direction, the carriage having a maintenance member including: a fluid bath having a mouth opposing the nozzle face of the printhead, a primary fluid inlet at an upstream end of the fluid bath relative to the cleaning direction, a suction nozzle at a downstream end of the fluid bath relative to the cleaning direction and a pair of wipers flanking the fluid bath; and a traversing mechanism for traversing the carriage along the printhead. The maintenance member does not contact inkjet nozzles of the printhead; the wipers each comprise a wiper material for contacting respective parts of the printhead flanking a nozzle face; and the wiper material is air-permeable such that, in use, suction of air through the wiper material into the fluid bath generates a foam in the fluid bath.
LIQUID EJECTING APPARATUS
A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting portion, a strip member, and a supply portion capable of supplying a reaction liquid having a component that cures ink to the strip member, the strip member being provided so as to be able to set a receiving region that receives any one of ink and reaction liquid discharged as waste liquid from a nozzle of the liquid ejecting portion and a contact region that comes into contact with the liquid ejecting portion when any one of ink and reaction liquid is collected, and the supply portion supplies the reaction liquid to a supply region set in the strip member between the contact region and a position farthest from the contact region in the receiving region.
Liquid Ejecting Apparatus and Cleaning Device
A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting head which ejects liquid from a nozzle that is disposed on a nozzle surface, a wiping member with a lengthwise shape that is able to contact the nozzle surface, a contact portion which is able to contact the opposite side from a side at which the wiping member contacts the nozzle surface, and a transport mechanism which transports the wiping member, in which the contact portion has a first contact portion which is separated from the wiping member when the wiping member is transported by the transport mechanism and which contacts the wiping member when the wiping member is caused to contact the nozzle surface, and a second contact portion which contacts the wiping member when the wiping member is transported by the transport mechanism.
WIPING METHOD AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A wiping method for wiping a nozzle surface of a liquid discharge head includes the step of relatively moving the liquid discharge head and a wiper impregnated with a cleaning fluid. The cleaning fluid contains a lactone compound in an amount of 5% by mass or more. The wiper includes a first layer configured to contact the nozzle surface and one or more layers other than the first layer. The first layer has a thickness of t1, the one or more layers other than the first layer have a total thickness of t2, and t1 is smaller than t2. A void ratio of the first layer is smaller than a void ratio of at least one of the one or more layers other than the first layer.
Inkjet printing device and inkjet printing method
An inkjet printing device including: an ink storage unit configured to store an ink; an ejection head having a nozzle configured to eject the ink to a printing material; a heating unit configured to heat the printing material; and a washing unit configured to wash a nozzle-formed surface of the head with a washing liquid, wherein the ink is a clear ink including a resin, the device has a low gloss printing mode that is a printing mode for applying low gloss and a high gloss printing mode that is a printing mode for applying high gloss, and the inkjet printing device satisfies: T.sub.matte>T.sub.gloss where T.sub.matte (degrees Celsius) is a temperature of the heating unit when printing is performed with the low gloss printing mode, and T.sub.gloss (degrees Celsius) is a temperature of the heating unit when printing is performed with the high gloss printing mode.
Method of capping printheads arranged along curved media path
A method of capping printheads positioned along a curved media path having an apex. The method includes the steps of: providing a first printhead upstream of the apex and a corresponding first capper downstream of the first printhead; providing a second printhead downstream of the apex and a corresponding second capper upstream of the second printhead; moving the first capper towards the first printhead and capping the first printhead; and moving the second capper towards the second printhead and capping the second printhead. The first and second cappers are moved in opposite directions away from the apex for capping the first and second printheads.
WIPING UNIT AND LIQUID EJECTING APPARATUS
A wiping unit includes a wiping member with a long shape configured to wipe a liquid ejecting head configured to discharge liquid, a first roller around which to wind the wiping member, a second roller configured to wind up the wiping member fed out from the first roller, a driving force transmission mechanism configured to transmit a driving force of a driving source to the second roller, a conveyance roller configured to make contact with the wiping member and rotate along with a movement of the wiping member, a first detection unit configured to detect a rotation amount of the first roller, and a second detection unit configured to detect a rotation amount of the conveyance roller.
LIQUID COMPOSITION, LIQUID DISCHARGING DEVICE, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING LIQUID COMPOSITION
A liquid composition contains a coloring material, an organic solvent, a compound represented by Chemical Formula 1 below, a resin, and water, wherein the contact angle of water against a liquid composition film formed by attaching the liquid composition to a non-permeable printing medium is 60 degrees or less,
