A liquid ejection head substrate includes a base layer, a heating resistance element provided over the base layer to generate a heat energy for ejecting a liquid, a first insulation layer covering the heating resistance element, and a protective layer having, on the first insulation layer, a first region which overlaps the heating resistance element via the first insulation layer and a second region which does not overlap the heating resistance element and formed of a material including a metal which is eluted by an electrochemical reaction. The liquid ejection head substrate further includes a second insulation layer provided over a region overlying the base layer and not provided with the protective layer and over the second region of the protective layer.

Raised fluid pass-through structure in print heads

A print head includes a substrate having a hole, a circuit on the substrate, the circuit having traces and a hole corresponding to the hole in the substrate, the hole forming a fluid path, and a raised structure on the substrate around the fluid path, the raised structure positioned to seal the circuit from the fluid path.

Method and apparatus for load-locked printing

The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for preventing oxidation or contamination during a circuit printing operation. The circuit printing operation can be directed to OLED-type printing. In an exemplary embodiment, the printing process is conducted at a load-locked printer housing having one or more of chambers. Each chamber is partitioned from the other chambers by physical gates or fluidic curtains. A controller coordinates transportation of a substrate through the system and purges the system by timely opening appropriate gates. The controller may also control the printing operation by energizing the print-head at a time when the substrate is positioned substantially thereunder.

An inkjet printer is configured with capping stations for covering printheads during periods of printer inactivity. Each capping station has a printhead receptacle that encloses a volume, at least two members pivotably mounted to the printhead receptacle so the members can move between a first position where the members are adjacent a wall of the receptacle and a second position where the members extend across the volume of the printhead receptacle, and an actuator operatively connected to the pair of members to move the members between the first position and the second position. A thermoelectric device is mounted to each member. A controller is operatively connected to the actuator to operate the first actuator to move the members between the first position and the second position and to the thermoelectric devices to selectively apply an electrical current to the devices.
