The printer includes: a data reception unit configured to receive data containing a character string to be printed, from the external device; an acquisition unit configured to acquire extraction setting information that is information relating to a method of extracting the character string contained in the data that is received by the data reception unit; an extraction unit configured to, upon receiving the data from the external device, extract the character string from the received data, based on the extraction setting information that is acquired by the acquisition unit; and a print unit configured to print the character string that is extracted by the extraction unit, on a print medium.

A printing system includes a first printing unit that performs printing using a material that exhibits structural color, based on first data, a second printing unit that performs printing using a material that includes pigment, based on second data, and a control apparatus that outputs the first data and the second data; the first data causes the first printing unit to print the first personal information items of a first information group in respective regions, and an item of identification information linked to the first information group; and the second data causes the second printing unit to print the second personal information items of a second information group linked to the item of identification information on the corresponding respective regions on which the first personal information items corresponding to the respective second personal information items have been printed.

When printing on the same printing object with multiple print nozzles in the past, consideration was not given to cases in which the time relationships of the set times and times-to-be-printed become mismatched between the respective print items of the print nozzles. To solve said problem, the present invention is an inkjet printer for printing on a conveyed printing object and having multiple print nozzles, multiple auxiliary control units for controlling the printing performed by the multiple print nozzles, and a common main control unit connected to the multiple auxiliary control units via communication means. A printer control system for controlling an inkjet printer that prints an image having a predetermined thickness on a print medium includes: an image data creating/editing portion, configured for creating and editing an image data; and a printer control portion, configured for converting the image data sent from the image data creating/editing portion into a printing data and sending the printing data to the inkjet printer. When a portion for allowing the image to have a thickness in the image printed on the print medium is defined as a thick portion, the image data sent from the image data creating/editing portion to the printer control portion includes at least one of: a thickness information regarding a thickness of the thick portion, and a shape information regarding a shape of an end portion of the thick portion.

The receiving section (11) receives an arrangement setting that is a setting by which a page image P is arranged in formation of the page image P on a sheet. The generating section (12) generates based on the arrangement setting a preview image (AP) in which an identification image D identifying the page image P is disposed. A location of the identification image D in the preview image (AP) indicates a location of the page image P when the page image P is formed on the sheet. The identification image D has a data size smaller than a data size of the page image P.

The receiving section (11) receives an arrangement setting that is a setting by which a page image P is arranged in formation of the page image P on a sheet. The generating section (12) generates based on the arrangement setting a preview image (AP) in which an identification image D identifying the page image P is disposed. The display section (40) displays the preview image (AP). A location of the identification image D in the preview image (AP) indicates a location of the page image P when the page image P is formed on the sheet. The identification image D has a data size smaller than a data size of the page image P.
