DIGITAL PRINTING PROCESS AND RESULTING PACKAGING MATERIAL

A digital printing process for printing an image (I) including a white area (W) and/or a coloured area (C) on a packaging material includes selecting a packaging material with a substantially white side, and preparing print data to be sent to a printing means taking into account that the side of the packaging material is substantially white. The print data represents one or more first image areas (A1) representing the image (I), and one or more second image areas (A2) representing a packaging look (L), to be printed on the substantially white side of the packaging material, outside the one or more first image areas (A1) where the image (I) is to be located. The method further includes printing by the printing means on the substantially white side of the packaging material using the print data.

Provided is a production method of a sheet member, including a process of forming, by printing, a phosphorescent layer containing a phosphorescent material on a surface of a sheet-shaped substrate with a transmissive property, and a process of forming a reflection layer, by printing, including a reflective material to reflect light on a surface of at least either one of the substrate or the phosphorescent layer in such a manner that the reflection layer overlaps at least a part of the phosphorescent layer in a thickness direction of the substrate.

Determining alignment using fiducials

A print apparatus is disclosed. In some examples, the print apparatus comprises a print head to deposit print agent onto a substrate; a detector to detect a fiducial; a first light source to back-illuminate the substrate, such that light from the first light source is to be detected by the detector through the substrate; and processing apparatus. The processing apparatus is to operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a first fiducial on a first side of the substrate, the first fiducial comprising a shape of a first colour and having a first dimension, and a background of print agent of a second, different colour, wherein the first dimension of the shape does not exceed a corresponding dimension of the background; operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a second fiducial on a second, opposite side of the substrate, the second fiducial comprising an inverted version of the shape of the first colour; operate the first light source to back-illuminate the substrate; operate the detector to detect the first and second fiducials; and determine whether the first fiducial is aligned with the second fiducial. A method and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

Method of improving actinic cure of coatings

A method for printing on a substrate comprises two steps. The first step consists essentially of: applying onto a substrate one or more layers of an energy curable ink and applying one or more layers of a water-based coating over the top of the one or more layers of energy curable ink. The second step comprises the steps of, in any order: a) drying the one or more layers of water-based coating, and b) actinically or electron beam curing simultaneously all the energy curable ink layers.

The method further includes printing by the printing means on the substantially white side of the packaging material using the print data.

METHOD FOR RADIATION-CURED RELIEF PRINTING ONTO CONTAINERS
20230234281 · 2023-07-27 ·

A method is described for radiation-cured relief printing onto containers, where at least two print layers are applied one on top of the other onto a container surface by way of an ink jet and are cured successively by way of irradiation in such a way that the print layers, in particular edge regions thereof, can run over one another and/or alongside one another. As a result, the height and contours of relief-like printed images can be adjusted flexibly and efficiently by radiation-induced limited smoothing.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRINTING ON A CLEAR POLYMERIC FILM WEB

A system (20) and method for printing on clear polymeric film web (24) are disclosed. A first stationary inkjet print unit (44, 60, 70, 82) has first ejection nozzles that span a width of the clear polymeric film web and a second stationary inkjet print unit (44, 60, 70, 82) has second ejection nozzles that span the width of the clear polymeric film web. A web transport conveys the clear polymeric film web past the stationary inkjet print units. First and second print controllers operate the first and second and stationary inkjet print units to deposit drops of a first and a second material on the clear polymeric film web at a first and a second resolution, respectively. In addition, dimensions and position of a page element to be printed on the clear polymeric film web are adjusted to compensate for distortion that may occur to the printed page element due to shrinking of the clear polymeric film web.

PRINT METHOD

The present invention relates to a print method. In the print method, a first layer of ink is deposited and cured before a second layer is applied. The present invention further relates to a software product. The present invention also relates to an inkjet printing apparatus.

Instant ticket redundancy via multi-chromatic indicia with photoreceptor sensitivity to different wavelengths of light

A redundantly printed security-enhanced document, printing method, and system for better ensuring that the meaning of the information imparted by variable indicia printed by redundant printing indicia on a document protected by a removable Scratch-Off Coating (SOC). By printing the variable indicia with multiple colors, redundancy and integrity of the intended indicia is achieved relative to the perception of human eye photoreceptor cones. The redundantly printed document, methods, and systems enhance the overall appearance of the redundantly printed document, and reduce possible consequences resulting from misprinted variable indicia.
