Colour laser markable articles
A color laser markable article includes a color laser markable layer provided on a support, the laser markable layer including an infrared absorbing compound; a leuco-dye; and an acid generating compound, wherein the acid generating compound has a structure according to Formulae (I) or (II): ##STR00001##
wherein R1 and R3 independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl group, an optionally substituted (hetero)cyclic alkyl group, an optionally substituted (hetero)aryl group, an optionally substituted aralkyl group, an optionally substituted alkoxy group, an optionally substituted (hetero)cyclic alkoxy group, or an optionally substituted (hetero)aryl group; R2, R4 and R5 independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted (hetero)cyclic alkyl group or an optionally substituted aralkyl group; and R1 and R2, R4 and R5, R3 and R4, and R3 and R5 may represent the necessary atoms to form a ring.
Tunable directional color transition compositions and methods of making and using the same
Color change compositions that transition from a first to second color state upon application of an applied stimulus are provided. Also provided are substrates having the compositions on a surface thereof, as well as methods of making and using the compositions.
IODONIUM SALT INITIATOR AND PROCESSING-FREE THERMALLY SENSITIVE PLATE PRECURSOR CONTAINING THEREOF, AND PROCESSING-FREE THERMALLY SENSITIVE PLATE AND USE THEREOF
Iodonium salt initiator and processing-free thermally sensitive plate precursor containing thereof, and processing-free thermally sensitive plate and use thereof, At least one of two para positions of two benzene rings of the iodonium salt initiator is an alkene group containing a carbon or nitrogen or oxygen atom and a double bond at an end. The alkene group can increase a steric hindrance of the iodonium salt, improves compatibility of the iodonium salt, the thermosensitive resin and the crosslinkable prepolymer, reduces the surface migration of the iodonium salt in the imaging layer and improves the initiation efficiency. During the laser imaging, a double bond contained in a residual end of the iodonium salt can perform a crosslinking reaction with the thermosensitive resin and the crosslinkable prepolymer, and thus reduces damage to the imaging layer caused by small molecules. At the same time, substituents can be arranged at four meta positions of the two benzene rings to increase the steric hindrance of the iodonium salt, and therefore, the surface migration of the iodonium salt in the imaging layer is further reduced, and the initiation efficiency is improved and the performance of the processing-free thermally sensitive plate is further improved.
Thermosensitive recording medium
Provided is a thermosensitive recording medium having excellent oil resistance among various performances required for the thermosensitive recording medium. The thermosensitive recording medium has a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye and an electron accepting color developing agent on a substrate, wherein the thermosensitive recording layer contains N-[2-(3-phenylureido)phenyl] benzenesulfonamide and an urea-based compound represented by the general formula 1 as the electron accepting color developing agents, ##STR00001##
wherein R.sup.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group, and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.
DIRECT THERMAL RECORDING MEDIA WITH DIARYLUREA COMBINATIONS FOR OIL RESISTANCE
Non-phenolic direct thermal recording media have a thermally responsive layer containing a leuco dye and a plurality of diarylurea acidic developers selected to improve the quality and readability of the image produced in such media, particularly after being contacted with oils such as vegetable oil. The diarylurea developers preferably include, or consist essentially of, or consist of, N,N-diphenylurea (DPU) and a derivative of DPU. An exemplary combination is DPU together with a developer known commercially as TGMD.
