Metallic ink compositions for use in capillary-action markers are provided. More particularly, a metallic ink composition includes a polar solvent, an encapsulated metallic pigment, and a resin component.

A multi-function writing implement comprises a pen shaft, a colored pen assembly, and an erasing pen assembly. The colored pen assembly is arranged at one end of the pen shaft. The colored pen assembly includes a cartridge seat, a nib seat, a plurality of colored cartridges, a plurality of relay cartridges, and a plurality of colored ink cotton tubes. The cartridge seat is connected to the pen shaft. One end of the nib seat has a plurality of cartridge slots. The colored cartridges are respectively arranged at the cartridge slots. The present disclosure relates to a writing instrument comprising a tubular body, a reservoir for an ink composition. The writing instrument comprises a nib comprising a switchable flow material, wherein the switchable flow material is configured to switch between a fluid flow preventing condition and a fluid flow enabling condition by a stimulus. The switchable flow material is configured to control flow of the ink composition from the reservoir to or towards a writing surface.

The ink reservoir includes a tubular casing member having liquid blocking properties and an ink occlusion material disposed inside the casing member. Embodiments of the disclosure can include writing instruments, nibs for writing instruments, and methods of making the same. In one embodiment, the writing instrument includes a reservoir; an ink solution comprising a pigment, the ink solution being housed within the reservoir; a nib disposed at an end of the reservoir and plugging an opening of the reservoir such that the reservoir is closed, wherein a tip of the nib extends outside of the reservoir; and a filament extending within the reservoir, the filament being in fluid communication with a portion of the nib within the reservoir, such that the ink solution travels along the filament and through the nib, by capillary action, wherein the nib and filament are formed such that no more than 50 percent of the pigment present in the nib and filament flow into the reservoir outside of the nib and filament when the writing instrument is stored with the nib up for a period of one day.
