A rail gear assembly includes a base, a first wheel arm, and a second wheel arm. The rail gear assembly may include actuators that move the first wheel arm and second wheel arm between retracted positions and extended positions. The actuators may permit adjustment of the first wheel arm and the second wheel arm in their respective extended positions such that a net adjustment of the first wheel arm and the second wheel arm with respect to the base is approximately zero.

VEHICLE FRAME SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE
20220355635 · 2022-11-10 ·

A vehicle frame system includes a lower cross frame assembly that is coupled with an axle and includes a frame bar extending between a first end and a second end along a first axis. The frame bar includes a first external circumferential surface extending along at least a portion of the first axis. A first sleeve is configured to be disposed over the first external circumferential surface. A first internal surface of the first sleeve is operably coupled with the first external circumferential surface of the frame bar. The first sleeve is configured for a temperature of the first sleeve to be controlled to change one or more characteristics of the first sleeve. The first sleeve is prohibited from moving relative to the frame bar responsive to changing the one or more characteristics of the first sleeve.

Fluid-jet emitting machine

A fluid-jet emitting machine, particularly a firefighting machine, comprises a fluid-jet emitting device, a transport vehicle, lifting members and a control device. Each lifting member comprises an actuator constrained to the transport vehicle and at least one idler wheel adapted to engage a rail of a track. The actuators are configured to move the respective wheels between a non-operative position, in which the wheels are distanced from the respective rail, and an operative position, in which the wheels are arranged in contact with the respective rail. The control device is operatively associated with the actuators to activate the passage of the wheels from the non-operative position to the operative position so that during movement along a track and in said operative position, the wheels prove to be pressed against the respective rail, exerting a force such as to reduce only part of the pressure exerted by the movement means of the vehicle on the track.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ROUTING VEHICLES VIA RAIL AND ROAD
20230122132 · 2023-04-20 ·

System and methods for routing vehicles via rail and road are provided. One or more rail vehicles (e.g., trains, light rail, or other vehicles that travel exclusively via rail, etc.) and one or more hybrid vehicles that travel on road and rail may be tracked or monitored. The hybrid vehicle may be routed off the rail, such as onto an intersecting road, when a rail line interference or conflict exists with one or more rail vehicles.

System, Method, and Apparatus for Testing a Train Management System on a Road-Rail Vehicle

A simulation system, device, and method for testing a train management system on a road-rail vehicle is provided. The simulation system includes: a brake pressure simulation device adapted to be connected to a first input of the train management computer, the brake pressure simulation device including at least one circuit configured to output signals representative of at least one brake pipe pressure; and a speed simulation device adapted to be connected to a second input of the train management computer, the speed simulation device configured to detect a speed of the road-rail vehicle and output signals representative of the speed. Also disclosed is a simulation system wherein the at least one circuit of the brake pressure simulation device is configured to have variable resistances.

Road and Rail Convertible Trailer
20170361670 · 2017-12-21 ·

A convertible trailer for road and rail operation has four rail wheels and two road wheels. Each road wheel is within a road wheel assembly which connects to a main pivot or axle on the trailer, around which the entire assembly can rotate and thereby separating the road wheels from direct connection to the trailer. A lift, which may be motorized or hand controlled, raises and lowers the entire trailer by raising or lowering a foot which engages with the ground. When raised sufficiently and a locking mechanism disengaged, the road wheel assemblies may pivot on the pivot or axle. This pivoting allows the wheels to be locked in high position out of the way for rail operation. With the road wheels disengaged, the trailer may be lowered allowing the rail wheels to contact rails for railway operation.
