CONTROL COIL OVER INTERNAL BYPASS DAMPER FOR AUTOMOTIVE SUSPENSIONS

A damper for use with an automotive coil over shock absorber. An outer damping sleeve is retained over the exterior surface of an inner body and includes a plurality of bypass ports to alternately align and unalign with bypass ports of the inner body to regulate a bypass flow of damping oil between an interior volume and an outer passage, thereby allowing variable damping control of the damper. The outer damping sleeve is connected to an internal floating piston (IFP) which rides inside the inner body. A control spring is retained for applying a force to the IFP to limit the free movement of the IFP and thereby control a damping force of the damper during the damping event. Increased pressure in the hydraulic damping oil causes the IFP to move, causing the bypass ports to open and close depending on the forces subject to the damper.

A lift device includes a base, an arm, a tractive element, and a steering actuator. The arm has a base end coupled to the base and a tractive element end. The arm includes a steering actuator interface positioned along an exterior surface of the arm. The tractive element is coupled to the tractive element end. The steering actuator has a first end coupled to the steering actuator interface and an opposing second end coupled to the tractive element. The arm includes a plate extending from the exterior surface of the arm at an upward angle and past the steering actuator.

The stiffness adjustment feature is configured to adjust the effective stiffness of the shim without affecting a preload applied to the shim.

The apparatus includes a sensor to detect a driver performance parameter of a driver driving the vehicle. The driver performance parameter represents a behaviour of the driver of the vehicle. The apparatus further includes a processor to compare the driver performance parameter to at least one of the plurality of suspension profiles stored in the memory, and a controller to adjust a suspension of the vehicle according to a first suspension setting of a first suspension profile of the plurality of suspension profiles if the driver performance parameter corresponds to a first stored performance parameter of the first suspension profile.
