A closure system for a motor vehicle cargo bed includes a closure panel having a plurality of slats moveable between a deployed position and a retracted position, with each adjacent pair of the slats being pivotably connected to one another by a hinge unit for pivotal movement of the adjacent slats about a hinge axis. First and second guide track units are configured to be mounted to one side of the cargo bed to extend adjacent opposite side edge portions of the closure panel. A plurality of roller units, each having first and second rollers, are supported along the opposite side edge portions of the cover panel for rolling movement along the first and second guide track units, with each roller unit rolling about a roller axis that is coaxially aligned with one of the hinge axes.

An overturning and tensioning mechanism includes a vehicle body, a soft top, a fixed connecting plate, and a movable connecting plate. An upper end of the vehicle body is provided with an opening, a connecting piece is fixed or integrally formed on the vehicle body, and the connecting piece is provided with an accommodating groove. The soft top is configured to cover the opening. The fixed connecting plate is fixedly connected with the soft top, and the fixed connecting plate is fixed on the vehicle body. The movable connecting plate is fixedly connected with the soft top. The movable connecting plate is provided with a support member. A head of the support member is provided with a matching portion matched with the accommodating groove of the connecting piece. An opening of the accommodating groove faces away from the fixed connecting plate.

A container tarping assembly comprises a frame structure. A left spreader assembly and a right spreader assembly adapted to carry a tarp are also provided. The left spreader assembly includes first and second left travelers. The right spreader assembly includes first and second right travelers. The travelers are each movable in reciprocating fashion along a predetermined path between a first limit and a second limit. A plurality of drive mechanisms are respectively associated with the travelers to move the traveler in the reciprocating fashion, each of the drive mechanisms having a bidirectional motor.

An apparatus for covering an open top of a transportation trailer container, such as a chip train carrying wood chips, is provided. A flexible cover (e.g. tarp) may be deployed and retracted using a roller moved overtop of the container using pivotable arms. An electrically powered covering mechanism automatically deploys and retracts the cover. The covering mechanism is powered by a supercapacitor, which is charged when connected to an external power source. A charging control circuit can selectably allow or inhibit charging of the supercapacitor depending on power demands of other electrical loads.
