The disclosed invention relates to maintaining a closed and secured position of a tank fill port cap on a tank such as a fuel tank. The invention comprises a dual collar structure providing a means for the attachment of a lockable blocking device to prevent a tank fill port cap from being removed from a tank fill port nipple. The lockable blocking device is removably and securely installed on a first collar and wherein the first collar is removably and securely installed on a tank fill port nipple such as on a large commercial truck fuel tank. The first collar and the blocking device discourages or prevents the theft or vandalism of the contents of the tank. The first collar attaches to the tank fill port nipple with setscrews in a continuous one piece collar or a clamp screw in a clamping split collar configuration. A second collar is fitted over the first collar covering the first collar attachment means preventing tampering or removal of the first collar. The second collar is secured in position by the blocking device being attached to the first collar requiring the blocking device to be removed from the first collar in order to remove the second collar from the first collar, therefore, maintaining a secure and removable dual collar device locking device to secure and protect the contents of a tank by preventing the tank cap from being removed. In addition, the lockable blocking device is required to reside in a position that does not interfere with a tank pressure relief device that may be centered in the fill port cap.

A fuel cap includes a cap body mounted to a fuel supply port of a fuel tank, and a pressure adjusting device provided in the cap body to adjust a pressure in the fuel tank. In the fuel cap, a space is formed as a hermetically closed space in which the pressure adjusting device is accommodated, and the space communicates with an exterior of the fuel tank via a breather tube.

A multiple fuel tank purge system and method includes providing a pair of fuel tanks, including a main fuel tank for containing impure fuel and a separate, auxiliary fuel tank that contains commercial canned fuel. The engine runs on the impure fuel from the main fuel tank while the engine is in normal use, and then employs a shutdown cycle that switches to the commercial canned fuel from the auxiliary fuel tank for some pre-set time period. This arrangement allows the engine to be purged of the impure fuel (by burning the impure fuel during the shutdown cycle) and replaced by the commercial pre-mixed fuel before the engine is finally shut down. The system may further include a novel fuel cap with a fuel line, a tank within a tank fuel container, and/or an electronically actuated shutdown cycle mechanism.

A fuel system, a vehicle, and a method of controlling an evaporative emissions system for the vehicle are provided. The fuel system has a fuel tank having a fuel fill port with a closure member. An evaporative emissions canister has a first port fluidly coupled to the fuel tank to receive vapor therefrom and a second port, with the canister positioned between an air intake for an engine and a vent to atmosphere. A filter or a second canister is supported by a bracket for movement between first and second positions, with the filter fluidly coupling the second port of the canister to the vent in the first position, and the filter spaced apart from and decoupled from the second port of the canister in the second position. The second port of the canister is in direct fluid communication with atmosphere when the filter is in the second position.

A fuel tank cap includes a casing; a main chamber disposed in the casing; a vapor vent channel disposed in the casing and communicating with the main chamber; annular partition walls disposed in the main chamber and configured to divide the main chamber into troughs surrounding a central tunnel, each partition wall including a cut so that the troughs and the tunnel are capable of communicating with each other via the cut; activated carbon filled in the troughs; and a permeable plug disposed in the tunnel, which is made by wrapping rust-resistant flexible wires so that a plurality of intercommunicated air gaps are formed among the flexible wires. The vapor vent channel includes the cuts, the troughs and the air gaps. The activated carbon captures fuel vapors and absorbs VOCs in the fuel vapors when the fuel vapors pass through the vapor vent channel.

A pressure tight plug for sealing a coupler of a dry disconnect valve includes a housing, a main flow valve, and at least one urging member being rotatable with respect to the housing of the coupler. The pressure tight plug includes a body, a locking ring, a pressure relief lock valve, and a pressure relief channel. The body includes an internal region for sealing adjacent the main flow valve of the coupler member, and a flanged perimeter for securing the plug to the coupler. The locking ring is receivable on, and rotatable with respect to, the body for engaging with the at least one urging member of the coupler. The pressure relief lock valve is fixed with respect to the body. The pressure relief channel extends from the internal region of the body to atmosphere, via said pressure relief lock valve. The pressure relief lock valve is arranged such that in a valve closed position the pressure relief lock valve is engaged with the locking ring, therein restricting movement of the locking ring and therein fixing the plug to the coupler.
