A fuel system, a vehicle, and a method of controlling an evaporative emissions system for the vehicle are provided. The fuel system has a fuel tank having a fuel fill port with a closure member. An evaporative emissions canister has a first port fluidly coupled to the fuel tank to receive vapor therefrom and a second port, with the canister positioned between an air intake for an engine and a vent to atmosphere. A filter or a second canister is supported by a bracket for movement between first and second positions, with the filter fluidly coupling the second port of the canister to the vent in the first position, and the filter spaced apart from and decoupled from the second port of the canister in the second position. The second port of the canister is in direct fluid communication with atmosphere when the filter is in the second position.

A pressure relief valve (10) is provided for controlling fluid flow between a first fluid path (12a) and a second fluid path (12b). The pressure relief valve includes a housing (14), a diaphragm member (24) movably affixed within the housing and having a fluid port (18), a first biasing member (20) for urging the diaphragm member in a first direction, and a sealing member (26) movably mounted in the housing and configured for reversibly sealing the fluid port (18). When a pressure at the second fluid path (12b) exceeds a first predetermined threshold the diaphragm member (24) is pushed against the first biasing member (20), and the sealing member (26) is initially urged towards the fluid port (18) and subsequently becomes disengaged with the fluid port, allowing fluid communication between the second fluid path (12b) and the first fluid path (12a) via the fluid port. When the pressure at the second fluid path (12b) decreases below a second predetermined threshold, the sealing member (26) becomes disengaged from the diaphragm member (24), allowing fluid communication between the first fluid path and the second fluid path via the fluid port. A valve assembly including the pressure release valve (10) and an externally actuated valve (60) is also provided.

A fuel tank system is obtained, in which internal pressure does not readily increase and in which there is no need to secure a space for deformation at the periphery of the fuel tank. A vapor pipe is connected to a fuel tank, and an atmosphere release pipe is connected through a canister. An electromagnetic valve is attached to the vapor pipe, communicating a gas layer at an upper portion inside the fuel tank with the external atmosphere by opening the electromagnetic valve. A thinned deformation location capable of indentation-deformation towards the inside is provided at an upper wall portion of the fuel tank. A negative pressure pump is provided to reduce the pressure inside the fuel tank, causing the deformation location to indentation-deform towards the inside. The fuel tank is sealed by closing the electromagnetic valve in a state in which the deformation location is indentation-deformed towards the inside.

A fuel system, a vehicle, and a method of controlling an evaporative emissions system for the vehicle are provided. The fuel system has a fuel tank having a fuel fill port with a closure member. A refueling control system for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel tank; a vapor pipe; a step motor-driven shut-off valve; a fuel filler lid; and an electronic control unit configured to, when the fuel filler lid is to be opened, i) drive the shut-off valve such that the shut-off valve is opened, ii) close the fuel filler lid when an opening degree of the shut-off valve is less than a set opening degree, and iii) open the fuel filler lid when the opening degree of the shut-off valve is greater than or equal to the set opening degree. The electronic control unit sets the set opening degree such that the set opening degree when an opening speed of the shut-off valve is low is greater than the set opening degree when the opening speed of the shut-off valve is high.

A tank passage is connected at its one end to a fuel tank, which stores fuel. A canister is connected to the other end of the tank passage and adsorbs evaporated fuel generated by evaporation of fuel in the fuel tank. An electric control valve is operable with current supply to control an amount of fluid flowing through the tank passage by varying an open rate of the tank passage. A fill-up detection part detects that the fuel tank is filled up with fuel based on a fuel level in the fuel tank. A control part controls an operation of the electric control valve. The control part controls the electric control valve in the valve closing direction, which decreases the open rate, when the fill-up detection part detects that the fuel tank is filled up with fuel.

REFUELINIG CONTROL SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
