A lock device of a fuel tank cap includes: a cap configured to open and close a fuel filler port; an operating unit; a fastening unit movable in conjunction with an operation of the operating unit; a lock unit configured to lock movement of the fastening unit from a fastening position to a allowing position; and a detection switch configured to detect start of the movement of the fastening unit accompanying the operation of the operating unit. The fastening unit includes: a first fastening unit of which the start of movement can be detected by the detection switch; and a second fastening unit which enables locking by the lock unit and which is integrally moved with the first fastening unit after the first fastening unit is moved by a predetermined dimension so that the second fastening unit can be moved from the fastening position to the allowing position.

Method for enabling refueling of a motor vehicle and motor vehicle

A method grants an enablement of refueling of a motor vehicle. The method includes the steps: i) detecting a tank temperature value which is indicative of the present temperature of at least one pressure vessel of the motor vehicle and/or of the fuel stored in the at least one pressure vessel; ii) determining a temperature difference value which is indicative of the present difference between the tank temperature value and an ambient temperature value which is indicative of the ambient temperature; and iii) releasing a tank flap, wherein the tank flap is released by the motor vehicle for the purposes of refueling only if the temperature difference value is lower than a temperature difference threshold value.

FUEL TANK

A fuel tank includes a tank panel in which a storage space of a fuel is formed, a tank inlet fixed to the tank panel, and a tank cap that allows the tank inlet to be opened and closed. The tank inlet includes a bottomed cylindrical inlet plate to which the tank cap is attached, an inlet pipe that protrudes from a bottom wall of the inlet plate into the storage space, and a separator configured to separate the fuel entering from the storage space into a liquid component and a gas component. The separator is supported by the bottom wall of the inlet plate in the storage space, and the separator is disposed on an outer side of the inlet pipe and on an inner side relative to an outer edge of the inlet plate in a bottom view of the tank inlet.

Battery powered keyless locking cap

Battery powered, keyless locking container cap configured securing a bayonet filler neck or threaded filler neck remaining unlocked after attachment. A timer circuit powers off placing the invention into an energy saving, mode; a compression spring forces a coupler into engagement. While engaged, the cap can be removed and replaced. Cap rotation by an unauthorized user, locks the cap. A backup, rotary pin coded lock is in the interior inaccessible. Cap rotation enters a pin code to unlock or lock the cap. The invention supplied is with a transmitter configured as a key fob or a cigarette lighter power plug. the transmitter signals the cap not to lock thereby providing removal. rotational Comprising rotary frictional slippage prevents unauthorized removal by limiting both speed and the rotational force to a level insufficient to override the attachment torque.

Methods and systems for an external flap of a vehicle

Methods and systems are provided for a refueling cap locking mechanism. In one example, a method includes unlocking the refueling cap in response to an engine start. The unlocking occurs without a vehicle operator input outside of a request to start the engine.

Systems and methods for reducing saddle fuel tank depressurization time

Methods and systems are provided for increase a rate at which a saddle fuel tank is depressurized responsive to a request for refueling. In one example, a method may include, responsive to the request for refueling, depressurizing a primary side of the saddle fuel tank to a secondary side of the saddle fuel tank, and commanding open a refueling lock coupled to the primary side to allow fuel to be delivered to the primary side when pressure in the primary side drops below a threshold pressure. In this way, the secondary fuel tank may be maintained at atmospheric pressure prior to the request for refueling, which may increase the rate of depressurization of the saddle fuel tank responsive to the request.
