In a vehicle having a display mounted forward of a passenger seat on a dashboard and angled toward a driver seat adjacent the passenger seat, the display is moveable from the angled position to a position flush with the dashboard, and an airbag system is configured to deploy an airbag cushion that displaces the display from the angled position to the position flush with the dashboard to ensure that the airbag cushion has an adequate backup or support surface.

An impact protection device for an occupant of a motor vehicle in a vehicle interior, including a display device with a display, with which an airbag arrangement is associated, and at least one airbag, which is filled with gas and deploys when the impact protection device is activated. The display device includes a printed circuit board, which is arranged in a housing of the display device behind a display panel. The printed circuit board is combined with the display panel and the airbag arrangement arranged behind the printed circuit board in the housing, such that the printed circuit board with the display panel moves away from the housing when the impact protection device is activated.

An energy attenuating vehicle display mount includes an instrument panel support mounted to a dashboard, an instrument panel support bracket coupled to the instrument panel support, a display mount coupled to the instrument panel support bracket, and an energy attenuating fastener connecting the display mount to the instrument panel support bracket. The energy attenuating fastener accommodates movement of the display mount relative to the instrument panel support bracket.

A dashboard display of a vehicle includes a display panel having a speed display area that outputs a speed range of the vehicle at a first speed interval and an event display area that outputs an event information, a needle for indicating a current speed of the vehicle by rotating to thereby point to a corresponding position along the displayed speed range, and a controller that is configured to, when one or more preset conditions of the vehicle being satisfied, change a boundary of the speed display area from a first speed display area within the display panel to a second speed display area within the display panel that is different from the first speed display area.
