NEURAL-NETWORK BASED MTPA, FLUX-WEAKENING AND MTPV FOR IPM MOTOR CONTROL AND DRIVES
A method for determining MTPA, flux-weakening, and MTPV operating points over the full speed range of an IPM motor for the most efficient torque control of the motor using a neural network is provided. The neural network is trained using a cloud-based neural network training algorithm. A special technique is developed to generate neural network training data, that is particularly suitable and favorable, to develop a high-performance neural network-based IPM torque control system, and the impact of variable motor parameters is embedded into the neural network system development and training. The provided method can achieve a fast and accurate current reference generation with a simple neural network structure, for optimal torque control of an IPM motor. The method can handle the MTPA, MTPV, and flux-weakening operation considering physical motor constraints.
REDUNDANT BRUSHLESS DIRECT CURRENT MOTOR CONTROL SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS
Brushless direct current (BLDC) motors are becoming more common, such as in cars and other vehicles. Unreliable BLDC motors or control systems can lead to risk of people's safety. A redundant BLDC control system is provided to control two or more BLDC motors. A safety module controls an enabling switch in each of the motor drivers, so that in response to detecting a fault condition, a currently active BLDC motor is disabled and a redundant BLDC motor is enabled. A digital processor computes and transmits digital signals to all the motor drivers continuously and simultaneously, so that the transition from a currently active BLDC motor to a redundant BLDC motor is smooth and almost unnoticeable.

The invention also relates to an inverter controller, an inverter, a drive, ventilation or air-conditioning system and a vehicle having a blockage detector according to the invention. In addition, the invention relates to a corresponding method for detecting a blocked state of an electrical machine.
Solar power system for auxiliary-powered brakes and power system for a tractor trailer
The solar power system for auxiliary-powered brakes and power system for a tractor-trailer is a supplemental electrical system adapted for use with the trailer of a tractor-trailer. The solar power system for auxiliary-powered brakes and power system for a tractor-trailer is designed to: 1) assist in the acceleration of the trailer; 2) use braking energy to generate and store electricity; 3) supplement the stored energy with a renewable source; and, 4) distribute excess energy to the trailer electrical system. In one potential embodiment of the disclosure, the solar power system for auxiliary-powered brakes and power system for a tractor-trailer provides for tapping into the stored electrical energy for external use. The solar power system for auxiliary-powered brakes and power system for a tractor-trailer comprises a plurality of photovoltaic cells, one or more axle assist devices, an electricity storage device, and a distribution system.
Electric vehicle traction control system and method
A traction control system and method are provided for electric vehicles with at least one drive wheel powered by an electric drive motor to maintain optimum maximum traction while the vehicle is driven on the ground. The traction control system includes drive means capable of transmitting torque through a vehicle drive wheel and controllable to move the vehicle over a ground surface. A preferred drive means is an electric motor designed to move the vehicle at desired ground speeds in response to operator input. Operator input requests a desired speed, and the system determines drive wheel torque required to produce the desired speed and provides maximum current to produce maximum torque to drive the vehicle with optimum traction at the desired speed. The system uses constant feedback to find maximum current corresponding to torque required for an inputted speed request to automatically control traction in any electric powered vehicle.

Apparatus, method and article for reserving power storage devices at reserving power storage device collection, charging and distribution machines
A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors or ultracapacitors). Locations of collection, charging and distribution machines having available charged portable electrical energy storage devices are communicated to or acquired by a mobile device of a user, or displayed on a collection, charging and distribution machine. The locations are indicated on a graphical user interface on a map on a user's mobile device relative to the user's current location. The user may use their mobile device select particular locations on the map to reserve an available portable electrical energy storage device. The system nay also warn the user that the user is near an edge of the pre-determined area having portable electrical energy storage device collection, charging and distribution machines. Reservations may also be made automatically based on information regarding a potential route of a user.
Method for the diagnosis of the offset of the resolver of an electric machine
A method for the diagnosis of the offset of the resolver of an electric motor, comprising acquiring a predetermined offset of a resolver associated with the electric motor; in a first transient, supplying an excitation current to the phases of the electric motor. As a consequence of the excitation current, a current established on the axis d of minimum reluctance and a current established on an axis q in phase quadrature with respect to the axis of minimum reluctance are determined. The correctness of the offset of the resolver is diagnosed if the current established on the axis d in the first transient is higher than the current established on the axis d in the second or third transient, and if the current established on the axis q in the first transient is lower than the current established on the axis q in the second or third transient.
