CONTROL APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE
A control apparatus for a vehicle includes an offset torque calculator configured to perform calculation of offset torque to be applied to at least one wheel of the vehicle. The offset torque is required to stop the vehicle on a sloping road having a predetermined gradient. The control apparatus includes a motor controller configured to, for stopping the vehicle on the sloping road having the predetermined gradient, perform control of causing output torque of the motor-generator to asymptotically approach the offset torque.
Battery discharge limit control system and method
A battery discharge limit control system is provided. The system includes a motor driven by receiving the power stored in a battery and a clutch connected to the rotary shaft of the motor. Additionally, an engine includes the rotary shaft connected to the rotary shaft of the motor through the clutch and a transmission changes the rotational speed of the rotary shaft of the motor or the engine based on the input of the shift stage instruction to output the rotational speed to a driving wheel of a vehicle. A controller opens the clutch and drives the motor in the reverse rotation, when the input of the shift stage instruction is a reverse shift stage.
Thermal runaway detection and mitigation for electric vehicles
A system for mitigating thermal runaway in a battery-powered electric vehicle (EV). The system includes a gas sensor configured to measure a level of at least one type of gas in a vicinity of a battery of the EV, a thermal event detector configured to determine, based on the measured level of the at least one type of gas, that the battery is experiencing out-gassing, and a communications interface configured to transmit an alert to a fleet management system regarding the out-gassing of the battery. The fleet management system alters an assignment of the EV in response to the out-gassing of the battery.
METHODS OF OPERATING AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND ELECTRIC SNOWMOBILE
A method for operating an electric vehicle has the steps of: determining if at least one of a speed of the vehicle and a speed of an electric motor of the vehicle is zero; in response to the at least one of the speed being zero, determining if a reverse actuator is actuated; in response to the reverse actuator being actuated, starting a timer, then determining if the reverse actuator has been actuated without interruption for a predetermined amount of time; in response to the reverse actuator having been actuated without interruption for the predetermined amount of time, changing an operation mode of the electric motor from one of a forward mode and a reverse mode to another of the forward mode and the reverse mode. An electric snowmobile and other methods for operating an electric vehicle are disclosed.
Control of the state of charge of an electrically powered vehicle when traveling on a hill
An ECU controls charging of a power storage device such that an SOC of the power storage device does not exceed a prescribed upper control limit. When an electrically powered vehicle moves in a downhill direction with an MG generating travel torque in an uphill direction on an uphill road (downhill-movement state), the ECU allows charging in which the SOC exceeds the upper control limit. Further, when a request to stop a system of the vehicle is made with the SOC exceeding the upper control limit, the ECU performs a discharge process of discharging the power storage device.
Applying braking force during shifting events involving switch-back state for a vehicle
A vehicle running control device that is provided with an accelerating-decelerating operation element with an operation range inclusive of a driving range and a braking range includes the following. An input-output section that receives various information including information on a direction in which the vehicle is currently running, a determining section that determines whether the vehicle is in a switch-back state, and an acceleration-deceleration control section that controls the vehicle running. When a braking-driving request value for an operation of the accelerating-decelerating operation element is in the braking range and the determining section determines that the vehicle is in the switch-back state, the acceleration-deceleration control section keeps the braking-driving force at a braking-driving force that is applied to the vehicle when a shift range switch request is accepted.
Dismount controls for one-wheeled vehicle
A control system for a tiltable vehicle may include a motor controller configured to respond to backward or reverse operation of the vehicle by hindering a responsiveness of the control system (e.g., proportionally) and/or eventually disengaging a drive motor of the vehicle. Accordingly, a user may intuitively and safely dismount the vehicle by selectively commanding reverse operation. In some examples, the backward direction may be user-defined.
Systems and methods for chaining data between electric vehicles and electric vehicle stations
Systems and methods for chaining data between electric vehicles and electric vehicle stations are disclosed. In an example, an electric vehicle can share a charging profile with a charging station, and the charging station can share collective charging data with the electric vehicle. The collective charging data can include charging profile data electric vehicles which have previously charged at the charging station. Based on the shared data both the electric vehicle and the charging station can perform one or more functions based on the shared data.
System and method for controlling a vehicle
A vehicle control system determines an upper non-zero limit on deceleration of a vehicle to prevent rollback of the vehicle down a grade being traveled up on by the vehicle. The upper non-zero limit on deceleration is determined by the controller based on a payload carried by the vehicle, a speed of the vehicle, and a grade of a route being traveled upon by the vehicle. The controller is configured to monitor the deceleration of the vehicle, and to automatically prevent the deceleration of the vehicle from exceeding the upper non-zero limit by controlling one or more of a brake or a motor of the vehicle. The controller also is configured to one or more of actuate the brake or supply current to the motor of the vehicle to prevent rollback of the vehicle while the vehicle is moving up the grade at a non-zero speed.
