Vehicle direct current fast charging

Responsive to a target charge level, a target charge completion time, and a maximum charge rate being sufficient to achieve the target charge level during an available charge duration defined by the target charge completion time, a controller charges the traction battery at a selected rate less than the maximum rate such that the traction battery continuously receives charge until occurrence of the target charge completion time and the traction battery achieves the target charge level at but not before the target charge completion time.

Systems and methods are provided for aggregating and assigning power capacity for charging electric vehicles and providing power to other loads. The systems include a DC bus system used to harmonize and combine power drawn from grid connections having different electrical characteristics such as different voltages or phase levels and from other devices such as energy storage systems and generators at the site. Using the systems and methods can help enable utility customer sites to providing electric vehicle charging, especially for multiple electric vehicles, where the sites would otherwise not have sufficient power to do so without significant and expensive service upgrades and modifications.

Intermediate circuit and vehicle-mounted charging circuit with intermediate circuit

An intermediate circuit is equipped with a first terminal connection, which includes a neutral conductor connection, and with a first and a second intermediate circuit capacitor and a diode circuit. The intermediate circuit has configuration switches which in a first state connect the intermediate circuit capacitors to one another in series and in a second state connect the intermediate circuit capacitors to one another in parallel. The configuration switches are each designed as changeover switches, which bypass the diode circuit in the first state, wherein the neutral conductor connection is connected to the diode circuit. A vehicle-based charging circuit, which includes the intermediate circuit and a rectifier circuit, is also described.

Vehicle drive apparatus

A transmission mechanism is provided with an output gear drivingly coupled to at least one of a pair of output members and placed coaxially with the pair of output members. A direction in which a rotating electrical machine and an inverter device are arranged side by side in an axial view is defined as a first direction. A direction perpendicular to both an axial direction and the first direction is defined as a second direction. A first output member that is one of the pair of output members is placed between the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device in the first direction, at a position in the second direction where both the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device are placed. The output gear is placed in such a manner as to overlap each of the rotating electrical machine and the inverter device in the axial view.
